Lovely park with a lot to see, but the area is sketchy 8/20/2005

Rockefeller Park stretches north from Shaker Heights all the way almost to the lakefront. The land the park occupies was donated to the city by philanthropist John D. Rockefeller. It's a lovely park and has a lot of charming features, like gardens honoring various ethnic groups, tennis and basketball courts, and a greenhouse, one of the oldest public greenhouses in the country. Unfortunately, some parts of the park aren't safe to wander around, especially at night. Fortunately, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard winds through the park, and affords a lovely view of the ethic gardens and other attractions. Caution: obey the speed limits; the park is a notorious speed trap. more
