Ok, it's your typical tourist trap...but there are still some great stuff for the locals, whether that be the Shakespeare Theatre, the Stained Glass Museum, rides on tall ships, or one of many special events held there throughout the year. Be prepared to do a lot of walking...the pier is long. You can stop for a drink or bite along the way. Events are ususally held at the end of the pier. A perennial favorite (all puns intended) is the annual Flower and Garden Show when the pier is transformed into several gardens. For a bird's eye view, try the ferris wheel; it's the real symbol of the pier. Be sure and schedule your trip for the fireworks, which happen twice a week in the summer.
