Adler’s Hardware has the best service of any hardware store I have ever been to. Adler’s has been in Providence for over 90 years and is still run by the same family. While it may not have as extensive a stock or as low prices of some national chains the staff, perhaps one of the Adler family will help you find exactly what you’re looking for and explain how to use it. It also has a good housewares section and an excellent paint department that lets you rent cans of paint or buy small samples of paint in order to try out the various colors. And they sharpen hand tools and hand pushed reel mowers! Go there and experience retail service the way it ought to be.
