I recently visited Bookpeople Book Store on my way to the new Whole Foods, and I was pleased to find a great selection of books. They were awarded the Austin Chronicles: Best book store and Children's bookstore for 2004. I went into Bookpeople primarily to find some Keep Austin Weird shirts, but decided to stroll through the multi-story building. The place is very popular and the lines to check out were going through the store actually. I don't know if the book store is normally this packed on the weekends, but i was a little taken back. They're moto is "biggest bookstore in Texas;" however, I wasn't that impressed. They had a great selection of books, no doubt, but not too much different than say a Barnes and Nobel. Still, you should definitely check them out for your book needs if you are in the area or going to Whole Foods.
