I had a storage unit with Shurgard for a year. They had friendly service and good hours to access my unit. I always felt safe while accessing my things. They have a little retail store that sells basic packing needs and they rent out trucks for moving things.
I was told when we moved our things into the unit that we would be able to borrow their unit truck free of charge as long as it was available. I opted not to use it moving in, but upon leaving, I requested it. When I went to pick it up, I was told there was a charge just as if I was renting one of their rental trucks. While this wasn't a huge problem, I was disturbed that their policy had changed during the year I was a customer and they hadn't let me know.
