Awful, awful, awful! 6/1/2011

I went to Seattle Vision Clinic on the recommendation of a friend that told me the doctors were great. My friend was correct, Dr. Kikuchi was great (friendly and very professional), but the optical side of their business was absolutely appalling. I had brought in a vintage frame to have my new prescription put in. As she was preparing the order, the woman told me that there was some risk involved with using a vintage frame. Having at least 15 vintage frames done over the last 25 years at various opticians without any incident, I took my chances. I got a call 10 days later telling me that the lab had broken my frame. They were apologetic, but did not offer any compensation for my broken frame. (Later they told me that was their policy, but they never informed me of that fact in advance. They only warned me about breakage.) Nevertheless, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and brought in a new frame to have my lenses put in. 2 weeks later when I got the new glasses home, I noticed that the $150 anti-reflective coating was not applied, so I had to go back again. 2 weeks later, when I got the glasses back, they seemed fine in the store, but again, when I got home, I noticed that my left eye vision was blurry. (When I rotated the frame slightly, it was fine.) I went back to Seattle Vision Clinic and the manager, Eva, adjusted the frame. Again, they seemed fine in the store, but later I noticed the same problem, leading me to believe that the lens was ground incorrectly. I went back a fourth time and after defensive and rude treatment by the staff, I became fed up and politely ask them to take the lenses out of my frame and refund my money. The woman said, ?We can?t do that?, but I persisted. After talking to manager Eva, she came back and said they would refund $400, but they could not refund the $150 that my insurance company had already paid them because, ?They already made the lenses.? At that point I just wanted to be done with Seattle Vision Clinic, so I agreed. (I figured losing $150 was worth it.) In closing, I?d like to say that I am definitely not a complaining, hard to please customer! (In fact, this is the first online complaint I have ever written.) I?ve just had enough! Whatever you do, don?t have your glasses made at Seattle Vision Clinic!! more
