I just ordered my wedding cake from Queen of Cakes. I went to sign my contract and pick up some extra samples. At that time I signed my contract and paid in full. The next day or so, I got a voicemail stating the delivery charge was not $20.00 like we had in our contact, it was actually $40.00. They demanded I paid this extra $20.00 after we had already signed a contact and paid in full! I was unwilling to pay for this because we were quoted $20.00 numerous times and had already signed a contract and paid in full! After speaking with a wonderful employee, there compromise was to either refund our $20.00 and we can pick up the cake ourselves, or we could pay the extra $20.00. We spoke with the owner who gave excuses and explained that the person who helped wasn't a wedding consultant, she didn't know prices, etc. These are all business errors. As a good business, you would think that you would eat the $20.00 to please a customer and to continue to get good referrals. Instead, she became argumentative and defensive about why the fee is $40.00 instead of $20.00. After about 5 minutes of arguing, we stated that we wanted to cancel the cake. She said okay. She lost a $300.00 sale over $20.00 and lost a lot of potential great referrals. This is a very unsatisfied customer that will not be giving good referrals to Queen of Cakes. more
