I have rented from Emerald once before, and the experience was terrible. They didn't fix anything we asked them to, if we could even get ahold of them. They were just terrible in general to try communicate and deal with.
That said, while looking for a place this time around, I decided to give them another chance. I thought maybe that was an isolated situation, despite all the bad word-of-mouth reviews I've heard since then. It wasn't.
Now, I don't have the best of credit, and so they denied us. And even though I'm not head of household, I get it. But they didn't even try to come up with a solution with us, despite an indisputably excellent rental history from all 3 of us. We were even willing to pay an extra deposit, had they taken the time to ask.
This time I personally dealt with the receptionist/administrator, and she was nice for the most part. That's where the second star comes in. At first I, too, thought she felt inconvenienced by my calls and questions. But, I figured out quickly that she is very busy and was not so much irritated with me, but more overwhelmed. And she still took the time out of her day to come and show me the place. However, that was the only person I dealt with. Not once did I hear back from either agent, despite calling and leaving messages several times. It was the admin that showed me the property, answered all my questions (to the best of her ability), and took our applications and IDs.
If you had a good experience, more power to you. I haven't, and I haven't personally met anyone who has. I am definitely done with Emerald.
