I gave it one star only because I had to. This is, hands down, the worst place I've ever stayed. The smell of mildew hits as soon as you walk in the door. The carpet is nasty, the bedspread is ancient, the furniture is mismatched and the paint is peeling. I got no soap and found a broken eggshell in the sink (??). \r

The Thursday night I stayed there it was 46 degrees and the heater wouldn't turn on. It didn't look like it had run since the 70's. There was no one in the office to help, so I froze all night. The next morning (Friday) I told the lady at the front desk that the heater didn't work and she said, ""It's New York, nobody uses heaters here!"" She finally sent someone to fix it, but I was so fed up I packed up to leave. I was booked to stay for two nights but asked for my money back. She informed me that since it was after 11 (check out time) I couldn't get a refund for the Friday night; and also because deposits were done on Monday I couldn't have my money back. (No, this made no sense to me either)\r

To add to all this, there were several shady looking characters around, and stuff scattered around some of the rooms indicating people are living there. The whole place looks like a flophouse for vagrants and drug addicts. Seriously, I'd rather have slept in my car!
