I don't like putting negative thoughts or words out there, but in this situation, I am just trying to save people from falling into the same trap that we did.
I really wish that i had taken my phone and asked him to say everything in to my voice recorder as the meeting went on. I have never heard anyone explain how nothing in a lease agreement really mattered like this guy did. He was squirmy and uncomfortable the entire time we read the documents and kept trying to get us not to read them. He gave awful reasoning for everything, it was like he hadn't gotten a deal done in three years and was about to get his house foreclosed on if we didn't sign the contract.
He wanted us to give him our cashiers check, made out to his company for 7540 for him to cash, and give us no executed agreement or receipt until the date that we were supposed to move in two weeks from the date of the incident
If you are asking someone to sign a contract for $36,000 they are allowed to ask questions. This man is extremely shifty, and I assume by the way that he freaked out when we began asking questions that the whole deal was fraudulent. He seemed very mentally unstable. When he could tell that we smelled something fishy, he stood-up, through his hands in the air and started yelling insulting names at us in an attempt to degrade us. He said that we were not allowed to have the apartment because he figured out that we were on to him. The BBB will be handling this one.
