Am i enjoying my thali experience? 2/14/2009

No! And i'm even more annoyed that this place has an ego big enough to send a waitress over to our table to ask that question. Look, this place feels inviting. It's a fun, modern, low-key atmosphere that sets you up for an enjoyable evening. The question is, at what point in your meal do you see through all the fiction and realize that you're paying $80 for a meal for two (w/out drinks!), and your food was mediocre at best. Big thali plate for $30, small for $20+. The short rib was all fat, and was supposed to be the ""main dish"". It was two bites. The small sides were bland, and i spent about 3 minutes thinking the concept of having many plates was interesting before i realized that none of them tasted good. I'm from New York City, and to some people that might mean i'm a food snob. But i'm not. I'm simply a value guy. Because i can get GREAT food for reasonable prices, with the option of having exceptional food at high prices. Poppy is poor food at an unfair price. more
