I worked as a waitress at Jour et Nuit a few years ago. The owner was kind enough to give me a job when I was in NYC for the summer which I was grateful for, but I quickly realized working here was a big mistake.
The owner would purposely unplug the credit card machine and make me tell customers that it was broken and they'd have to use the ATM across the street. He would also make me add a service charge onto the bill when I knew the food wasn't good and the customers were unhappy. It put me in a very awkward situation.
I never saw him mop the floors or clean the restaurant and we had to tap out the bread baskets on the sink ""in case there were cockroaches in them"" before putting the bread in to serve to the customers. The only thing I would eat from there is the french fries and the tea. How this place got a Zagat rating I will NEVER know.
Not to mention the fact that he hardly ever paid me for my work, in fact he still owes me money but I'm NOT going back there to get it.
