As fans of the Herbfarm, we were eager to try Chef Traunfeld's new restaurant Poppy. Getting a reservation a week in advance was surprisingly easy (via the web site). Parking was not so easy. The staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the food. However, the food itself was average to good. The starters (quite small) were delicious and the first few items of the thali (Green Gumbo, Mashed Cauliflower, Black-Eyed Peas) knocked our socks off. As we progressed through the thail, we were disappointed. The salads (Endive & Celery) were bland. The short rib and stuffed onion were OK. The bread was tasteless. We added the wine flight to our dinner and the pours were quite small. For dessert, we tried the lemon frozen yogurt which was good but not something I'd crave again.
Pros: good service, delicious appetizers
Cons: parking, some bland items on thali, not romantic ambience
