I was quite upset after our experience Saturday night but am glad to read we have not been the only ones to experience the terrible customer service at Gavroche. To cut to the chase our reservations were for 6:30, my friend/seister and I arrived at 6:20. We were told we must wait for our third party member to arrive before being seated (mind you only 4 tables in the restaurant were taken but I understand they must follow the policy.) I was concerned we would not be able to order from the prix fixe menu which ends at 6:30 and questioned the hostess about this - she repeated we had to wait for our third party member to arrive to be seated. I explained that I understood this but wanted to confirm we can still order the prix fixe menu. The hostess again repeated her explanation about waiting for our third member. At this point a waitress interrupted and explained the tables are being held for reservations. "We have a reservation" I explained to her and mentioned that I thought this was ridiculous. The hostess then, I kid you not, called me a b*tch. My very sweet friends (who at this point the third party member had walked in) started telling the hostess she was very out of line and had terrible customer service. The hostess then deciding she had definitely made a mistake tried changing her story saying she had stated she could be a b*tch. Well the details don't even matter at this point - don't go to Gavroche unless you want to be treated like garbage. What is this restaurants problem?!?! Why they didn't want our business is beyond me.
