Gross. My husband and I recently moved downtown and went to the Piggly Wiggly for the first time last week. The produce was not very fresh. I bought an avocado that felt OK, and when I got home and cut it open the inside was dark brown and spoiled. We needed fresh mozarella (which I was AMAZED to find here) but when I opened the vacuum-sealed package I discovered that the cheese had a foul odor and was also spoiled! I bought some pita bread that was nowhere near it's sell-by date and was kept refrigerated, yet when I opened the package found that some of the pitas were moldy. Wonderful! All of this in one shopping trip! The best part of it all was when I was panhandled in one of the aisles by some lady asking me to give her money to buy Vienna sausages. My recommendation: stay away unless absolutely necessary. Ew.

Cons: Sketchy people in and around the store, moldy and/or spoiled food
