My husband and I got engaged on the Queen Mary a year ago, and to celebrate our anniversary we decided to try (the supposedly more reasonable restaurant) ""The Chelsea"" instead of ""Sir Winston's"".\r

The seafood appetizer for two was over $30 dollars, (like most of the Entrees) and the shrimp tasted very fishy (i.e. not fresh at all) and the crab claws looked like they came from a baby crustacean and had no flavor. The Caviar was pretty good, but...how can you mess up imported caviar from a can?\r

Thank GOD we decided to split an entree, because if we had paid for 2 we would've felt like we were robbed twice...the Paella was CLEARLY out of a box...instead of the strong saffron taste you usually expect w/this dish, instead I think it was just yellow colored pilaf of some sort. The chunks of chicken were extremely dry (I suspect cooked far, far in advance) and the seafood was overcooked, stiff, fishy and obviously re-heated from frozen. \r

Finally, we decided to take a chance on what appeared to be a decadent chocolate dessert. It took FOREVER to come out of the kitchen, almost to the point where my husband and I joked it must have been due to the extravagant syrup design on the plate-but then when we bit into it, it had the consistency of a hockey puck --- we realized that this too was defrosted from frozen, and tasted like a hunk of Betty Crocker style ""ready to spread"" frosting (except so cold, it wasn't even ready to eat). \r

Now, just for the record, I have NEVER been motivated to write a review on Citysearch, I thought that was for people w/not enough to do...but this TERRIBLE meal inspired us!\r

I LOVE the Queen Mary but I hope the owners & management realize this beautiful landmark will NOT survive w/out an improvement in this restaurant's (and other areas of the ship) decor, service and cuisine! Gordon Ramsey where are you when we need you???
