I had a sit down with the director to discuss things that I've seen in the short time we were enrolled. \r
1) the day we visited to check out the facility. \r
-seemed wonderful, happy kids- they were in the middle of a last day of school fair\r
-1 small red flag was a teacher that turned to a boy throwing paper & said ""you better stop it or I'm gonna beat choo up."" She was smiling but it was inappropriate to say to a 4 year old. I figured it was her personality & she may be a sweet person. The kids seemed to like her. I did see another issue with her though: I heard her say ""ya'll better shut up."" \r
2) there are several middle eastern kids in the class. They're ignored on the playground. On several occasions I've put a little girl onto a swing as she is left to do it herself. When the kids are lined up they are noticelably treated like a nuisance. Specific Ex: The older of the 2 teachers introduced a withdrawn little boy to the other one saying this is ""X"" he's a problem, he likes to strike people. She embarrassed him in front of 17 kids & roughly pushed him to the back of the line. The kid doesn't get a chance to have a fresh start to the day.\r
3) Saw this teacher have a mini melt down at a H2O fountain & yell at the ""stupid thing"" in front of the kids \r
Director told me that she would likely begin the process of moving the older teacher back to the 3 yo, her prior position. She suggested her forte may be in the younger age group. It was encouraging that the director was willing to discuss this. I do wonder what is being said & done when there are no parents around.
Pros: Proximity to Home, rates
Cons: crass teachers, wtihdrawn kids
