I actually had a similar notebook issue with the ac adapter connection on my notebook like the previous reviewer.. After discussing the issue with HP the diagnosis was a bad motherboard (apparently the failed component WAS part of the motherboard and they said the entire motherboard would need to be replaced.) Mr Notebook looked at the machine and was able to solder and REPAIR the bad board at less than half the cost that HP wanted to fix it. Bottom line, accurate diagnosis - saved me $$ and was done fast.
