My wife and I patronized this establishment for dinner tonight. Our tab was $125, $80 of which was food, the rest alcohol and tax. We paid with a $50 gift card that restricted its use to food only (to be used obviously for the first $50 of food) and a $100 gift card with no restrictions (same as cash). Any remainder from the $100 gift card would go to the waiter as a tip, about 20%. The $50 gift card was purchased in 2007, but had no expiration date. The manager, whom the waiter described as ""new,"" told us that the $50 gift card had expired, although there was no expiration date. Eventually, it was accepted, but we were told they could not give us change and the remainder could not be given to the waiter as a tip. Essentially, as I see it they were keeping $25 rightfully ours as they had a problem honoring a gift card purchased last year.
