My Personal Favorite 1/23/2008

Kamehachi has something for both the uber-trendy and the old-fashioned. Their menu ranges from inventive sushi, if you're feeling all fancy, to traditional dishes like tonkastu, soba, and udon, if you're in a homier mood.\r \r For the location and the quality, Kamehachi's prices are actually quite reasonable. It's not McDonald's, folks--it's a nice Japanese restaurant in a major American city. While it's easy to drop quite a bit of bank here, the Maki-Mono menu has lots of rolls, many of them from $3.95 to $6.95 for six rolls. So, you can actually get quite a bit of sushi for very little money if you stick with maki.\r \r I've had great servers here. I recommend going for a table in the upstairs lounge, which is open late, even on weeknights.\r \r NOTE: It's standard restaurant practice, from the Golden Nugget to Kamehachi, to charge an automatic gratuity of 15-18% for parties of a certain size, and it's always printed on the bill. This is so servers don't work their asses off on a large party only to get stiffed at the end of the night. I only mention this because there seems to be some confusion in an earlier review. Pros: Oishii desu yo! (Delicious!) Cons: Parking can be tricky. more
