I was very excited to try Tom Douglas' latest restaurant addition and was not disappointed with his creative combinations atop near perfect pizza crust. On a busy Friday night we wandered over to Lola's for a quick cocktail across the street while awaiting our table. When the hostess called our cell we hurried back and started the evening with peaches, buffalo mozzarella, and balsamic... intriguing?
We shared three pies: Cherry bomb peppers with fennel sausage, mozzarella and tomato, and Yukon potato sprinkled rosemary and olive oil. The last was by far our favorite, although all were fabulous! The crust was chewy and crispy, and just a bit thicker than New York style.
We were a little disappointed with the dessert options, but a friend told me the servers would bring in Dahlia?s desserts (right next door) at request. The other disappointment of the evening was our server?s attitude. He seemed a little snooty for a casual pizzeria, but knew his food and wine so at the end of the evening, we walked away satisfied and committed to give Serious Pie another serious try.
Pros: Pizza!
