My aunt gave me a gift certificate for Polestar's maintenance plan (a check-up for my furnace/ac in spring & fall) that she won at a silent auction. I had them come out for my fall maintenance, & the service tech they sent was very personable. The problem is that he was a con man. He told me that my furnace was unsafe & that if it were his family, he would shut it down because of impending carbon monoxide poisoning. I was pregnant with my 3rd child, with 2 others under 4--all of us in the house all day, everyday. The owner of the company called & reiterated all the tech said & gave me quotes for the new unit. They both recommended that I have it installed before the weekend.I was scared to death at that point. Later, my husband and then dad checked out the unit & thought it was safe in their opinions. Then, my dad sent a heating & cooling guy over that he trusted. He said there was no hint of carbon monoxide & that the unit was older but not dangerous AT ALL & would last us another few
