I went to see my hero, Victor Calderone, at Pacha last Saturday, and it was amazing. This is the beginning of his residency since leaving Crobar, which has since closed, and I was starting to worry about the state of NY superclubs. I have been going out for some time and have seen a lot of places come and go, so it's great to see that Pacha is consistently booking the best talent, week after week, from Jonathan Peters to Boris. It guarantees there is always somethng fun to do on weekend nights. Even though the search at the door is intense, it HAS to be to ensure the club stays open! The girl that searched me had a great sense of humour about it, and believe me, that was not the case at the SF.
For a night of big, NY-style clubbing, I most definitely recommend Pacha, which is why I have been there a lot this summer on the weekends I did not go away. For out of towners, realize that it gets really busy so to avoid the crazy line, get there before 11:30 on the big nights. They are really strict with IDs as well, but that hasn't affected me in a long time. The bartenders, cocktail girls and go-go dancers are smoking hot, some of the best looking I've ever seen in a club. If you love house music and its best djs, this is the place for you.
Pros: DJs, sound system, beautiful staff
