I lived in the Glen @ Lafayette Hill for 15 1/2 months. Ironically enough, I never bounced a check until I lived there. When I was moving out, I changed banks to one that was closer to where I was going to be moving to. When I made my second deposit, not the first, I asked the teller when my money would be available since I know that they have holding restrictions on accounts less than 30 days old. She informed me that my money would be available the next day. I wrote my final check out to the Glen @ Lafayette Hill. A couple of weeks later, I realized that my bank was holding my money for 2 weeks and that my rent check bounced. Again, I had never bounced a check in my life. I was courteous and called the management @ the apartment complex to explain the situation. Now, being in sales, I know what it is like to work with people. Knowing that I had always paid my rent on time, left the apartment in good condition, had the bank call and explain that this was their error, and was never a problem as a tenant, one would think that the Glen @ Lafayette Hill would not fine me and just re-cash the check when it was sent back to them. Their response was that this was an issue between the bank and me and that they can't get screwed, so they have to fine me $150 or they would have to do this for everyone. Now my question is, why wouldn't you try to do this for everyone who has never caused a problem and was open about the situation? Pros: Maintenance was very good Cons: You had to pay too much $ for garage parking and it is located next to a major highway. more
