It usually takes me two-three years to find a decent hair dresser (i.e., cutter) when I relocate to a place. This time, when I returned to Portland after a 20-year absence (don't ask!), the wife of a friend suggested I try Marilyn at Leapin' Lizards. Since the salon is right around the corner from where I live, I tried it out. That was three years ago, and I have never looked back. First time out of the shop, every time out of the shop, a miracle. Not only does it look good right then, but it continues to look good right up until the 6-week oh-my-god-I-need-a-haircut point. If you have short and/or problem-esque hair, Marilyn Divine (the owner) is for you! She also does my color right, and the same every time. Plus she is fun and smart (she does improv on the side, so there's always something interesting to talk about). Try this out -- you won't be disappointed.
Pros: edgy artsy ambience, great staff
Cons: well, it's in NW, so take the trolley already (don't even try to park)
