Casimir is one of those beloved places that East Villagers just dropped by for years. We were always happy with the food, service & ambiance. Nowadays, at least on the weekends, it's a good idea to call ahead for a reservation if you're eating after 8:00pm. Success hasn't spoiled Casimir--on the contrary it is one of the few places that rises to the challenge & has actually become a better restaurant. It has the relaxed feel of a great lounge, good service and excellent food. If you're a fan of wild striped bass make sure to order when available as Casimir gets it fresher & prepares it better than many seafood places. Casimir is a great place for groups of 4-8 as the jazz lounge atmosphere lends itself to hanging out. Plus the reasonable prices won't give you indigenstion afterwards or make bill splitting that much of a chore.\r

The ONLY drawback continues to be the unattractive outdoor ""garden"" which is basically uncomfotable metal folding chairs on cracked asphalt. Avoid it & stay inside & truly enjoy this enduring & endearing gem.\r

I'm almost hesitant to rave about Casimir as its success has made it harder for me to get a table but I must give credit where its due!
Pros: Food, atmosphere, price, service
Cons: outdoor seating area to be avoided
