Sounds like this place was the place to be during restaurant week. My wife and I couldn't get in - so we decided to go early on a Sunday (too bad they aren't open for Sunday brunch cause it's a great setting). It was quiet and charming and we had a really nice time. The menu was expensive - I see why there was such a frenzy to get in there for only $35 - but not as expensive as some other restaurants I have been to. And it's well worth it. The food is amazing. The wine list is extensive and fairly priced. I don't claim to be a ""foodie"" or nearly as bitter as some of the other people who have posted reviews here. This is an old-fashioned, charming, New York institution with great food, a helpful and adept staff and we had a great time. What's all the complaining about? What, are people looking for life-altering experiences? It's just dinner.
