One if by Land, Two if by Sea

I celebrated my fiftieth birthday here recently with my family and friends and it couldn't have been more spectacular. The place is a tiny townhouse tucked away in the Village (it's not easy to find because it's located on a one way street). If you're driving, you can park directly across the street from the restaurant which by the way, doesn't have a sign! Once inside you are treated to wonderful food, gracious and attentive service and ambiance that just isn't found at many restaurants. This place is very upscale and has been named as one of the most romantic restaurants in NYC. The small inviting bar and waiting area greets you as you enter the restaurant which is actually on two levels. Our party of seven was treated to a center dining room table that was adorned with a bowl of fresh fragrant roses and was beautifully set. The menu is prix fix and we dined on multiple courses which includes sumptuous appetizers, amazing entrees of lobster, rack of lamb and beef, salads and tantalizing desserts. And of course, champagne! What a way to celebrate a birthday! more

This restaurant is overall a fantastic experience. There are 2 levels (sit upstairs if you can) and the surroundings are romantic and open. Sitting upstairs, it's fun to look at all the goings on downstairs, if you get one of the tables affording you the view. The food was excellent - everyone at my table enjoyed their meals, and drinks, and would definitely return there! more

I have only been to One if By Land, Two if By Sea once, but it was wonderful. We had the prix fixe tasting menu, wonderful wine, and tasty martinis. The beef wellington was terrific, and the service was outstanding. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. You definitely get what you pay for here, and I would recommend it for any special occasion. I will have to start saving up so I can go again! more

This is one of the most romantic restaurants I've been to! What I liked most was the live piano entertainment. Of course the food was good too but very expensive, especially since they only have prix-fixe menus and you cannot order a la carte. Service was impeccable as well. If I had the money, I would definitely go back again!! more

Don't let the outside deceive you - this little restaurant on Barrow Street is filled with romantic ambiance. Fresh flowers adorn every table. Live piano music wafts through the air. Tuxedoed waiters pull out chairs for female diners. One if By Land has the old world ambiance that's certain to melt the heart of any woman. The pre-fixe menu offers a wide array of choices. Their Beef Wellington is top notch and the Tuna is sushi quality. Don't miss their Molten Chocolate Fondant if you're looking to seal the deal with a chocolate kiss. This place is proposal central. So, if you have a pressing question you want to ask - this is definitely the place to do it! more

The food and atmosphere at One if By Land is amazing. Great seating in a smaller, quiet dining room. White gloved service from the waiters. Excellent food all-around. more

This place has it. Two fireplaces in the cozy bar area, and a pianist playing when you walk in, only to get cuter as you enter the restaurant. Exposed brick and gorgeous woodwork, the place is incredible. Add to that the menu and the food, you have a great night in store. A couple minor service details marred an otherwise perfect evening, but the maitre d' moved quickly to rectify the situation once we got his attention. more
