Not bad, but not the best 11/18/2007

After being told by numerous people how fabulous this no-frills sushi joint was, I had to try it. Upon first glance, things looked pretty promising: ""Cash Only"" signs dress the walls, Japanese orders fly through the air and lines of customers eagerly wait to be seated at the cramped sushi bar or tables. But once we began to place our order (salmon nigiri, tuna, albacore) we realized there really aren't any rolls on the menu! The fish was fresh, but it wasn't mind-blowing. The salmon could have been more buttery and the miso was just okay. All in all, not a bad experience, but certainly not among my must-try L.A. sushi spots. Pros: Casual & unpretentious Cons: No rolls! more
