It took me almost a year of eating at Alfredo of Rome to realize that its Rome, Italy location was the originator of the classic butter-and-cheese dish Fettuccine Alfredo (no kidding). While most of our party ordered the fettuccine, some of us opted to sample the oddly named ""Italian Sushi"" platter. We were pleasantly surprised to find our platter containing an assortment of the most flavorful ingredients mixed-and-matched and shaped into sushi-like hors d'oeuvres: Salmone (smoked salmon and buffalo mozzarella rolls with infused lemon oil and pink peppercorns), Tonno (smoked tuna rolled with avocado drizzled with a ginger mint sauce), Prosciutto (Prosciutto San Daniele rolled with figs and Gorgonzola cheeseour favorite!), Speck (smoked ham speck rolls with fresh cucumber, Calamari (fried calamari stuffed with fresh lobster chunks and avocado puree).
