I eagerly tried Kooma after seeing it ranked as #2 in columbus, but was I ever disappointed. I visited on a Monday afternoon and even though there were only two other tables in the place the service was less than attentive. I've worked in the restaurant industry for ten years. Two servers + two tables and bad service= unacceptable. I've also had the experience of working in a japanese restaurant before and the sushi was not good. The tuna on top of my roll instead of being slices was a ground spicy tuna paste. Not a pleasing texture, it reminded me of wet cat food. I also ordered another roll that with lackluster menu descriptions to my surprise came deep fried in a bowl filled with a sauce. The sauce had a good flavor but a deep fried roll in sauce turns soggy in about 2 minutes. Inventive ideas in sushi can be a good thing but there is such a thing as poor execution to a good idea. Kooma seemed to me to be just that.
Pros: comfortable seating for small groups
