With all the inherent competition in the Meatpacking District, STK should be going out of its way to attract and keep its customers. Typically, it falls into the trap of hiring the attractive hostess with no hospitality skills whatsoever. Example: 25 minutes after being seated for dinner and having just been brought our first round of drinks, the hostess asks us to either order or vacate the table for another party. This is one of the rudest experiences I have ever had at any restaurant in NY or anywhere else. While the manager did apologize afterward, this left a sour taste in our mouths. The food, admittedly, was good and our waiter friendly but this kind of faux pas is unacceptable. We almost took our $1200+ tab elsewhere.
