Great Location!!! Great experience. 5/12/2011

The restaurant has such an amazing hip nightlife atmosphere. You are not sure if you are having dinner or are at a club. The big bouncer outside the door definatly gives off that impression but I loved it. The food was incredible, if you go definatly have the parmesan truffle fries (amazing) & the drinks were great (not watered down like in some places). The service was good and overall 5 in my book. more

Awesome Atmosphere, Great Food 2/6/2011

Was visiting Manhattan this past weekend and went to STK on Friday evening for dinner with a few friends. We had late dinner reservations at 10pm and were seated promptly, but it's definitely tight quarters. I honestly believe that no matter what time you have reservations, this place is going to be working at capacity. The atmosphere is great, very chic and full of beautiful people, so if that's something you're interested in, you won't be disappointed. There is a lot going on here and music is fairly high volume, but wasn't overwhelming to the point where you couldn't talk to those at your table or around your table. The food is excellent. Great steaks and the sides are fantastic. Since it was a late lunch, and we were on a mission to go out afterward, I stuck to the extremely fair priced small skirt steak and haricot verts. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly and not a bad size. The haricot were crisp and had great flavor. I also tried the mac and cheese which was fantastic. Our server, Brianne was good but I think that the waitresses and waiters don't really have much contact with their patrons. She took the order, came back maybe once throughout the meal and then brought check. I'm guessing that's to ensure a quicker turnover, but at no point did we feel rushed. Will be back, great time! more

Overrated!!! 1/29/2011

My wife and my bro and his GF decided to go to STK last week for dinner. We are native New Yorkers and we always frequent great restaurants. We visited the STK in Las Vegas and had a blast. Unfortunately the one in NYC wasn't as eventful. The food was ok but the service was horrible. If your spending alot of money for dinner, I expect to be pampered and feel special. This place is suppose to be top notch and service plays a big part in the whole experience. Sadly were stuck with a server who would rather not be there and cares more about her next audition then she did serving us. Also the food portions are awful.. if your spending that much for a steak, it should be a big size. The website claims "this aint your daddy's steakhouse" At least at Peter Lugers or Ben and Jacks or Palm you leave stuffed!! Bottom line its the meat packing district, Its everything you expect. Go elsewhere!!! Your wallet will thank you!!! more

Hottest place in town 1/2/2011

This is the hottest place in town. I love going here with all my friends. Yes its extremely pricey. But you pay for location no matter where you go. Foods so so, but if you want to go somewhere fancy or take your freinds and family out. Perfect place. I've been to the one in vegas, but i personally prefer this location more. more

STK (Salt To Kill) 11/6/2010

Pretentious!! --Its one thing to be trendy but lets keep it real. How about enough light to read the small print on the menu. There are no salt and pepper shakers on the tables since all the food is overly salted and pepered..Yes, the side dishes all have a twist or shall i say twiated. Like Mac and 4 unknown cheses. The steaks are just pedestian. You order desert just so you don't leave hungrey. Disgrace to the meat packing disttrict. more

Rude!! 11/6/2010

This Restaurant is nothing but a scene with bouncers pushing people around. Saturday nite dinner reservations for a week at 930 pm, for a birthday dinner then had plans to meet friends across the street and AJNABAR at 12. Stk had us waiting 1 hour and 30 mins. Which was completely rude!! I asked several times the status of table? Knowing we are waiting so long... not even a comp drink to relieve the stress!!! So we left and had Dinner at AJNA BAR across the street, they sat us immediately and served us quickly!! AJNA BAR is very delicious and Knocks STK out the park!!!! more

Dining with a twist 5/24/2010

It is not your traditional sit down restaurant. There is a bit of a bar theme, with the music and the crowd, in an enjoyable way. I met a group of friends there and it was wonderful! It was fun, and relaxed enough for us to havea a great time. more

A Restaurant for Party People 3/12/2010

Don't expect a quiet cute restaurant... It's a great alternative for those that don't like clubs but need more energy than your classic sit down restaurant. Bring a date or friends and they'll love the good music and the ability to chat with new people. Expect very week mixed drinks so choose your poison wisely. The music, scene and atmosphere truly make it an upscale bar restaurant for party people. Pros: Great Music Cons: Weak Drinks more

STK saved my wife's B-day 11/22/2009

I was running late because of traffic and we called to ask how long they would hold the reservation. They told us only 15 minutes. Well.we got there 25 minutes after the 15 minute mark and the graciously sat us down as soon as we got here. The food and the service was fantastic. Thank you STK more

are we going there to dance? 11/11/2009

Very nice ambiance, great decor, great food....but is it a club or a resturant? not to mention its a bit overpriced. more

Not sure if it's a night club or restaurant 11/7/2009

We had dinner reservations, but left after half an hour, because we were already hoarse from having to shout to conduct a conversation. This place is confused as to whether it wants to be a bar/club or restaurant and fails utterly as a restaurant. Who wants to eat with pounding music preventing even the most basic communication between you and dining companions? Front of house straff were also hopeless - very nice but a complete shambles! Pros: nice bar, nice decor Cons: Deafening noise level, clueless staff more

good place, would go back 9/24/2009

I went to STK for my birthday on a Wednesday night. It was a very nice ambience and it definitely felt festive. there seemed to be a lot of client dinners going on... but the food was pretty good. we ordered the kobe sliders which were really good, very soon after we got our dinner, I wish it would have came out a few minutes later since I was still chewing on my slider. the steak was exactly how we ordered, pretty good. service was pretty good and they were pretty attentive. the portions were very filling. they did bring out the check right after dessert, guess no time for one last drink, which I would have liked. But overall I thought it was a good time and would go back for a nice evening with friends. Pros: drinks, ambience Cons: got the feeling we were rushed out more

Waste of money 8/21/2009

The waitress was mean the tomato watermelon salad I had to send back and my beef ribs were alright nothing special . Good bread in the begging of the meal was good. I had a horrible experience and would never go back . As soon as I entered I was thinking of having my engagement party there . STK is very beautiful but the food and service turned me off. Pros: very elegant Cons: horrible food more

I just recently took a trip to NYC and and made reservations to dine at STK. The food was delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection and the sides such as the truffle fries are a must. My friends and I had a great time and will surely be returning. more

  • STK artfully blends the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge into one, offering a dynamic, fine dining experience, with the superior quality of a traditional steakhouse. NYC’s premier year-round rooftop featuring skyline and highline views.

Editorial
  • The Scene
Picture windows along the facade show off the pretty crowd like mannequins at neighboring boutiques. Stark black-and-white accents, from faux elephant tusks flanking the bar to the shiny ebony leather lining the lounge, infuse the space with contrast. A live DJ clinches the clubby mood.

    The Food
Meat portions, divided into small, medium and large cuts, are all generous; the humbly named "Little T," for example, offers a quality 10-ounce T-bone. A selection of garden salads--like a mache, crab, melon and avocado mix--will appease those concerned with fitting into designer duds, while lightly curried scallops garnished with peas are a seafood standout. Some mains, like the bland short ribs, don't fare as well, though any dish can be saved by the parmesan-truffle fries--a stack of lightly crisped potato rectangles packing salty-earthy power in each bite. A fruit salad punched up with black pepper provides a refreshing but assertive ending.
