MGMAT Rocks for Top B-Schools. 10/30/2006

I heard about MGMAT from my trusted friend Google. I did some more research online and was fairly impressed. So I attended a free seminar, got $100 off, and wound up paying $1290 for a 9-week class, all materials included. This company actually only focuses on the GMAT, and their target is students who want to get really high scores. From what I understand the median score of their students is a 710. This was very important for me, because, by comparison, Kaplan's is like a 550 or so. Well, a 550 certainly wouldn't have helped me get into Columbia. Anyhow, I completed the course, which had about 12 hours of hw per week. The lectures were very engaging and the classes were small (my class had 15 students). The teaching style is actually a focus on the GMAT content, rather than trying to trick the exam. This works, becuase you can't trick the 700-level questions -- and actually have to know your stuff. So MGMAT re-teaches you the geometry, grammar, fractions, etc. The approach really works. You can also schedule to talk on the phone to an instructor once a week if you need additional help, which comes in useful with the homework. Pros: Specifically suits people looking to get high scores Cons: No parking on premises -- unless you want to pay an arm and a leg. more
