I had the opportunity to justify the cost of of dining at the Nicollet Island Inn for our annual ""new years resolution dinner"". Yes it's expensive, Yes it's worth it. I don't think I've ever had better service, which was helpful and pleasant without being obtrusive, especially the wine maitre de. After mentioning to him that the wine we had chosen didn't go well with some of the cheeses on the appetizer plate we had ordered he immediately rushed off to the kitchen and had the chef put together another plate of cheeses for us that he thought went better with our wine. Our waitress was polite and quick, but respected our conversation and privacy. The wine maitre de also reserved us a seat on the horse drawn carriage rides after we inquired about them during our dinner. Overall wonderful romantic experience.
