Fine Japanese Cuisine 8/26/2004

Unlike the previous critic, who obviously knows nothing about fine Japanese cuisine, I highly recommend Mori. I went with a group that included three visiting Japanese executives. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. We all had Mori-sans omakase, which consisted on a variety of dishes (including homemade tofu and grilled Santa Barbara prawns) and ended with the finest quality fresh sashimi and sushi. No, at high-end sushi restaurants you dont get wasabi on the side, because the chef has already put on an adequate amount before serving. And sushi is eaten with your fingers (not chopsticks save that for greasy Chinese food). The Japanese guests swore that this was as authentic as it gets, and although it was expensive ($1,000+ for our party of seven), it was worth every penny. Dustin Hoffman was sitting next to us and he seemed to enjoy his meal tremendously as well. Pros: Sushi Cons: , Ambiance, Location more
