My wife and I had an event in Santa Monica, so I solicited restaurant recommendations. Two friends recommended Typhoon. I checked out the reviews here. The bad reviews were extreme and scared me a bit, but I trusted my friends' opinion of good food. The event fell through, but the dinner salvaged our evening. We had the BBQ chicken, fried squid (read calamari), and Bah-Mi (Thai noodles). I would recommend them all, especially the Bah-Mi, which was lightly sweet and sour with savory seafood flavors. The people are nice. Next time I'm in Santa Monica, I'd definitely consider dining at Typhoon again.
