Unless you like greasy food and a noisy ambiance, I would avoid this restaurant. Personally, I do not like either.

Yum! Yum! 10/4/2011

One of my favorite restaurants for Greek food in town. The food is always excellent and there is lots of parking (just follow the signs). My favorite is the Keftedes, herb rice and lemon potatoes. The jumbo shrimp appetizer is also delicious. On an extra healthy day, I have the Spinach salad with grilled salmon and we won't even get into the salads. Fresh takes on a whole new meaning at this restaurant. And as many times as I have been there, I still have the rest of the menu to go. There is a dish for every taste and mood. You can never go wrong at this place. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you can always hear the Greek music playing in the background. Walking into the restaurant reminds me of my trip to Athens early this year. To enjoy the Houston cool weather in the Fall, the outside patio is a must. Great stuff! Enjoy! more

baked feta cheese all the way 7/10/2011

The parking lot is confusing but the food is right all the way, they have happy hours between 3-6pm so I would advise you all to pay them a visit and try there menu! more

Great Greek Food 4/3/2011

I love this place. I go there regularly. It's a Pappas restaraunt so I expect a certain quality from them. They've done a great job - have the sagnaki. And I also recommend the lamb chops - umm ummm. more

Greasy food and less than excellent service 9/19/2010

SOOOO SALTY...BAD service!!!!!! 7/31/2010

First off, the parking lot makes no sense. it's a far walk. but whatever, I guess I won't complain too much about it. Second, the food is overly salted. My boyfriend and I ordered calamari to start with. OVERLY SALTED and the portion was tiny. But it's okay, it was disgusitng anyway so I wouldn't have eaten the whole thing. Then for our entrees, we both ordered lamb dishes. OVERLY SALTED. AGAIN. it's like they're trying to compensate for how gross the food is so they put salt wherever and whenever they can. I've never had salted pita bread until I came here. The potatoes were mushy and tasted strange. Even my water tasted salty (no joke). Last but CERTAINLY not least, our server ORION was inadvertently rude and snobby. By not being courteous and/or welcoming, you are RUDE. I only remember his name because I made a conscious effort to look at the receipt so I could go on citysearch to review this dump. I was recommended by a friend to go here...and I regret it. What a waste of $60 for crap food and crap service. He never asked how our meal was, didn't write our order down on paper (hence the need for him to come back a second time to ask what we ordered...how professional), didn't wish us a good night after we paid (I don't think I'm being petty with this, it was the least he could do), and wasn't helpful at ALL. He was just downright unfriendly and cold. Not sure if it was because he was stereotyping/generalizing or PLAIN LAZY, but instead of my usual 20%+ gratuity, I gave ORION (that's his name) 10%...which he didn't deserve at all. I hope he reads this and makes an effort to be a professional. If he doesn't, he needs to find another occupation. Didn't mean to get personal, but I don't like wasting MY earned money on places/people that do not deserve it. DONT waste your money - trust me. Go to Niko Niko's or some other Greek place. This place is bad news. Will NEVER return. Pros: mango tea was okay Cons: they put sea salt on EVERYTHING, our waiter was bad. more

Best Humas in Galleria Area 7/10/2010

Been here a few times. Service was always quick and friendly. Food is always good. One of our favorite Pappa's places. Looking forward to our next visit. Pros: Great Humas, Good everything else too Cons: Can't think of any more

Great food! 2/2/2010

Took a client here for lunch. We were both surprised when we stood in line to order but were glad when we saw the lines go down quickly. Using waitstaff at lunch would have taken way too long. Great food! more

Don't waste your time or money 1/11/2010

Horrible place. It was way overcrowded and the food was way overpriced and downright disgusting. Don't waste your time or money on this dump. more

Delicious Greek Food, Great Lunch Spot 9/8/2009

I had a terrific lunch here on my recent visit to Houston. I love Greek food and this is the best I have found in Texas. Yia Yia Mary's has an amazing selection of food! There aren't many restaurants that offer the spectrum for pita sandwiches to braised lamb shank. Please add a location to downtown Austin! Yum, yum. Pros: Variety, Quick Service, Well-priced Cons: No Austin Location more

Disappointing Overall 4/18/2009

After many people told me ""you have to try this place"", I did. I was very disappointed. First, you have to park in the garage that's a far walk, especially awful on a rainy day, cuz their lot only fits 5 cars, Second, all the tables are so close together you can hear everyone else's converstaion except your own. And lastly, the portions are small & the food is not authentic or very tasty. It's just another overpriced Pappa's restaurant. If I ever have a craving for Mediterranean food, I'll just stick with Cafe Mezza and Grille. They never disappoint you. Cons: parking is far, small quantity, close seating more

Very disappointing 3/24/2009

Arrived for dinner before a dressy function on 3/22/09. As we were being seated a waiter dropped a full tray of food splashing my wife and her friends black pants with soup. All the restaurant personnel cared about was cleaning up the floor. We had to insist they give us napkins and soda water to clean the soup off their black pants. Pros: Location Cons: Prices more

food is good, but way overpriced 2/12/2009

the rice here is delicious, and the kabobs are average, however the portions are small compared to the huge prices you pay.....i would go back, if it were not so overpriced considering the type of food they offer! Pros: great rice Cons: very overpriced for this type of food more

Good food 8/14/2008

I have been to this restaurant many times. The food is good. The service is very good. The hummus is awesome! It is a bit noisy if the room is full. It can get very crowded at lunch time. more

The best potatoes in Houston 6/26/2008

I love the food here. The best lemon roasted potatoes ever! Everything I've tried is good except for the hummus. Too much garlic and not authentic tasting. The chicken and beef is wonderful and love the Greek salad. I wish it was a little more high-end instead of the open cafeteria style. I would rather have a waiter the entire time instead of ordering and then going to my seat. Pros: The potatoes and Greek salad Cons: Atmosphere more

Overpriced, so so food, and service needs improvement 5/31/2008

Totally disappointed, have been wanting to stop in and just never had time. Sorry, i made the time today. Service was so so, food very bland and overpriced, salad was more like lettuce soup with the amount of dressing that was put on. Wont go back, and definately wont recommend. Pros: Got a table fast Cons: Bad service, overpriced, food is so so more

Okay 2/20/2008

My co-worker and I went there for lunch and we both really enjoyed the Rotisserie Lamb Gyro. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The main dining room is large and spacious but way too loud. What I do not like is having to order yourself upfront but then later they provide you with a waiter. Why not just do one or the other? Although our waiter was extremely pleasant and prompt, is there really a need for such a role? more

One of my favorite greek resturaunts 12/19/2007

I usually get the plates instead of the the gyro's. It does cost more, but it comes with a lot of food and it tastes so good. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes greek food. Pros: Great tasting food, very nice area, plenty of parking, friendly Cons: price is a little high, but not terrible more

The worst Greek food I've ever had in my life!!! 11/4/2007

As a 40 year old Greek guy that lives in Athens Greece, I know Greek food and this place has no Greek food! I visited Houston in September of this year and met up with an old friend to eat some Greek food. Well, I have to say, that it was a clean restaurant, but sorry to say that I left 90% of my food on the plate and left with a bad feeling in my stomach. I say to all, this place does not serve Greek food, but some type of cheap canned-over priced-nasty something. And now, I'm in Athens and eating real Greek food. I'm actually upset with the name of this restaurant. Yia Yia means Grandmother and my Grandmother is more than likely rolling over in her grave with discust from this fake Greek restaurant. Pros: Clean Cons: Worst Greek food in Houston! more

Don't waste your time or money 7/19/2007

This place was the worst greek restaurant I have ever been to. I found Niko Niko's (on Montrose)to be a lot better quality than this one (also better in price). The food was all tasteless, you would need to have a few spices with you to make it taste right. Food was not, and I repeat NOT worth the money. Horrible place to dine. Waitstaff don't ever come back to check on you, you will feel like they forgot about you. Pros: None, maybe parking? Cons: Everything ranging from Food to service to price more

I love the service and the variety. Patstisio is wonderful. 6/25/2007

My wife and I like this place. It is a little noisy but the service is good and the food variety is wonderful. The greeek salad is forgettable, but the Patstisio (sort of a Greek lasagne) is fabulous. I loved the potatoes as well which are very tangy. For Gyros, and Baklava, i reccomend Gyros and Shiskabob on Hiway 6 which is far better than Niko Nikos. But the deserts here are varied and interesting. I like it! Pros: Great Variety Cons: Noisy more
