First off, Thanks to Urban Spoon for having a site that lists hot restaurants. So we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. It was creative, flavorful and presented well. The BLT is very creative and everything I love in southern food. I raved on Facebook and to family what a nice place this is. I know it was somewhat busy, but frankly many of the customers were growing impatient with the waitstaff. Really felt neglected and had to continue to remind for forgotten items. Unsat service for the price. The food made up for it. I would have licked the plates if I was not in public. more

Ordered the "famous" fried chicken, I only eat dark meat, was delivered 1 leg, 2 breasts and one wing. Waiter asked was there a problem? Did not care I only ate 1 leg. Wife ordered shrimp and grits, only ate one bite. Same response from waiter. Skip this place! more

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious! I found this restaurant on Urbanspoon with great ratings and my friends and me decided to try it. We were absolutely pleased with all of the food. We has the fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and the ribs. We also had the BLT, mac&cheese, baked beans, and cornbread stuffed vidaila onion. Plus the bourbon blackberry lemonade. No complaints whatsoever! I would definitely recommend all of those dishes!! more

Finally...the transplanted Texans found a place that feels like home!! Must be expecting to spend >$50-60 per couple, but it was totally worth it. Hallelujah for a bourbon menu; classic mint juleps and delicious blackberry bourbon lemonade. Even though we went for a late lunch. \r Deviled eggs were smaller than you'd find at a Baptist pot-luck, but yummy and much easier than making them at home. My husband loved their take on a BLT: layered fried green tomato, pimento cheese, tomato jelly, thick cut bacon on top. Kathy Bates would approve. Mama's chicken biscuits slightly reminiscent of Chick-fil-a breakfast with honey glaze. Mac n cheese was good but would probably order a different side next time. \r Definitely going back, maybe not for supper=dinner to avoid the higher priced menu items. more

This place was ranked number one kid friendly restaurant but when we entered, we were told that they have no high chairs? We came there due to it supposedly being kid friendly. The hostess greeted us with a rude attitude and proceeded to treat us like we committed some crime because we had a children. No southern hospitality there. It was an overwhelming bad experience. No one should treat another person like that. It's not like a black tie restaurant. It was ranked number one kid friendly restaurant? Need to do better research. more

Currently our favorite restaurant in SoBe. Great southern food. Portions are fairy large so unless you are famished stick to the small shares. Salads are fresh and delicious. The beef short ribs meatballs were out of this world. Delish! more

Yes. Get everything. Chicken is moist, the watermelon is salty and the Mac is spicy. Their kitchy elegant interior is quietly brilliant. Good spot for sure more

My first visit to Yardbird was incredible! I’ve been looking for the bar that serves old-fashioned drinks, and finally I found it. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly; the food was delicious. I will be back again, and again, and again! Thank you for brining good southern food and real old-fashioned American drinks to Miami! more

My friends and I made a trip to Miami for my bachelorette party - and since most of us are from Georgia or Kentucky - we wanted to try some Southern food. After a recommendation from a diner at the bar, most of us got the Blackberry bourbon lemonade. It was wonderful. So refreshing, with fresh blackberries, and served in a Mason jar (a girl from Kentucky can appreciate this!). The service is plated so you can share, so our group of 8 ordered the iceberg salad (served with grilled corn, house cured bacon and avocado dressing), deviled eggs, fried green tomato BLT, grilled vidalia onion stuffed with cornbread, sweet tea-brined ribs, steak served on truffle mashed potatoes, shrimp and grits, grilled corn on the cob, hand cut french fries seasoned with bacon salt (yes, BACON salt), macaroni and cheese and the fried chicken with tobasco in the batter. I can't tell you which item was better, because it was all PERFECT. All of the plates were completely clean, and most of us - although completely stuffed - contemplated ordering more just because it was THAT good. The bacon is made in house and was soooooooo good. The ribs fell apart when you ate them with a fork, the fried green tomato BLT is served on pimento cheese and was so delicious we ordered a second round. The atmosphere is wonderful - bright, but not too trendy - and there was a projector with vintage pictures of country stars and famous Southern folks. And the service was absolutely outstanding. Our waiter was a sweet woman who was provided us with great recommendations, knew the menu and was always checking on our group. There was constantly people cleaning off the table and refilling our water....or Blackberry bourbon lemonades :) A must-visit if you are in the Miami area. Now if I could only convince them to open up a restaurant in Atlanta..... more

Cozy sleek bright interior with any type bar, bench or booth required (I required the bar) has Southern comfort charm. Don't fill up on your Bloody Mary garnish. Three of those is a meal in itself. Chicken and waffles to rival any comes with spiced watermelon and a sweetened tabasco-y sauce. THE place to get your fried food fix. Eat sushi raw. Eat chicken fried. Perfect. Must be some of the best shrimp and grits on the planet. Moist cheesy grits w/ four or five plump 16-20's topped with a robust red eye-like sauce. Extremely well done. Claimed it policy to deliver food as cooked. Hot. No heat lamps? AMEN!! Brunch like this? AMEN!! No take out and couldn't get a tshirt at any price. Still young and cocky. Halleluiah!! AMEN!! Sweet Jesus!! more

This place is too cool. I agree with other reviews that say its expensive, but it is well worth it! The atmosphere is awesome as is the service. The food is truly delicious and - as they claim - wonderfully neosouthern. A place like this seems more suited to a place like Louisville or Charelston, but it is a very welcome addition to Miami Beach! more

Modernized comfort food!!! Delicious food and a great ambiance! They have a large selection of bourbon and they did an amazing job making my dirty martini! I had the fried chicken and it was yummy! The batter was darker than I was used to but wasn't burnt; probably because of the seasonings. Next time, I hope to get the shrimp and grits! more

A wonderful addition to Miami Beach Dining scene. It has all elements for success, great food, kind service in a very nice setting, plus prices are fair for the quality. We look forward to go again and again. Our Family gave it a 9 out of 10 more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 5/6/2012

Everything I ordered was bland and overpriced. We ordered the fried chicken and the chicken and dumplings. The only thing good i ordered was my mint julep. The atmosphere is uncomfortable as well. It is crowded with no room to walk. Plus you are sitting right next to strangers which can hear your whole conversation. more

Exotic & Delicious. So many levels of flavor captured what seemed so effortlessly in every single dish ordered and concocted in the genius, culinary mind that is Chef McInnis. From the stew to the biscuits, fried cauliflower to the sweet tea brined, tangy and spicy short ribs. Cocktails were on point - myself makers on the rocks (hard to go wrong) and the date's bourbon/vodka cocktail. Service & Management were exemplary - the hostesses were very hospitable and consideratively asked whether we minded sharing a 6 person table with a couple; our bartender was super nice and attentive even though the bar area was moderately crowded; all the bus boys were polite when asking us to get the hell outta their way; our server Stephanie was very helpful & kind, and the manager John not only checked on us but happily conversed with us and answered all of our questions about the restaurant, management, ownership, and other upcoming projects. By far easily one of my all time favorite Miami dining experiences from start to finish. Will definitely be back again multiple times in the near future. more

I don't know about anyone else, but I thought this place was awesome. Had the chicken and waffles and thought it was delicious. Also, the Lil Bit of "Meat Loaf" (which is actually a tender short rib) was also amazing. Service was great and I actually thought the nouveau-rustic decor was pretty cool. As for the prices, it is Miami and it's not really meant to be a hole-in-the-wall restaurant--it's southern-style food with a twist, wrapped up in a trendy concept. And as with all things trendy (AND located in a city), sometimes it can be pricey. But I can't wait to go back! more

We had heard differnet opinions of this restauraunt, some good but mostly indifferent. We are locals who consider ourselves foodies so we decided to wait before trying the restaurant to give it some time to settle in. We were very dissapointed with the overall experience. Although the atmosphere is nice, the food is exrtemely uninspiring, heavy, and very overpriced for what you receive. I had ordered the short rib sandwhich. The bread was excellent but I could barely find any shortrib between the bread. My friend ordered the fried chicken and waffles which was tasteless. Maybe we will try it again one day but there are many better and less expensive places to eat if you are lookin for "just Decent" food. more
