My favorite food???? more

One night 11+ yrs ago, I had the most amazing food at Yambos which was located a couple blocks in Coconut Grove near a club called 609. For 11yrs I had been searching for this gem that left me craving their amazing taquitos and awesome " white sauce"..... Everything we ordered was blah. They microwave all the food in front of you. Nothing is fresh, sitting there for hours. Taquitos were hard, beans tasted bland, stuffed plantain, was not ripe enough, the amazing white sauce was sour and horrid. And the clientel needed to be taken out along with the trash. A woman screaming at the top of her lungs like the ghetto queen she is, was never once repremanded or asked to leave the premises. Don't waste your time or $, and don't risk your life either. Very dangerous neighborhood at night, with sketchy characters. So dissapointed. I would have been more satisfied with my 11 yr old memory of the place..... more

Go inside for another whole perspective on interior decoration. Food is all under $10. Open 24 hours. A pot for the hot sauce. Excellent fresh juices. Try the Calala. Good for veggies on severe budget more

I've been there a few times and always hoping will be better but is not,is nasty atmosphere.The carne asada is most of the times burned,feels like chewing rubber. and I know some of the people who works in the kitchen and they said is infested with roaches.they buy and served the cheapest quality beef.After all I wont recommended this place.....only if you like kanguro meat this is the place. more

The ambience is a hybrid between a café in the amazons and a Santeria shop in Miami, lots of fun. The food is incredible and so cheap! I have return and return for lunch various times. It is one of my favorite places to eat in Little Havana but I still do not dare to visit after dark. The Nicaragua food is very authentic. Ask for the side order of the fried cheese, it is so cholesterol good. The tongue dish is so moist that it practically melts in your mouth. The chicken tacos are crisp on the outside, fried of course and delicious pieces of chicken mix with melted cheese in the inside. . more

When eating at a "neighborhood" spot, you let some things slide because you are there for one reason...the food. Unfortunately, the food just wasn't good. We ordered the chicken tacos, the roasted chicked and churrasco, all of which came with rice, beans, and fried plantains. The tacos were the worst, filled chicken that resembled and tasted like mystery meat while the shells seemed to be soaked in grease. The roasted chicken was well seasoned but not fresh and the churrasco was overcooked. And both meats seemed to be soaked in grease. Even the rice and beans were soaked in grease. Everywhere we turned, grease! As we pushed our plates away, we began to look around and began to fall out of love with the outdoor patio. While it does remind you of an authentic restaurant in some small Spanish town, care wasn't put into ensuring customers have a pleasant experience. A mop and dirty bucket sat in the open, trash cans were full, etc. The only upside was that we only spent $5.50 a piece. more

Great fritanga. Stick to the carne asada, which is made fresh regularly, and you won't be disappointed. The have a good gallo pinto, great tacos, and great drinks. The rest of the food in the steam trays looks a bit questionable. The ambiance is adorable and looks like you're in a Nicaraguan village. A great place to stop after a night on the town, being that it is open 24 hours, 365 days a year, and is always jumpin. more

This is one of those great hole-in-the-wall places that only locals know about. When I was first brought here by a Nicaraguan friend, I thought this place would have dishes beginning around $10.00 each. When the menu arrived, I was surprised to see most meals were around $5.00. \r I was more surprised when I saw the MOUNTAIN OF FOOD (and I'm not exaggerating) arrive at my table. \r I was even more surprised to find out that the food was DELICIOUS! \r I don't think I've ever been to a place in Miami where you can find so much delicious food at a restaurant for such a low price. It gets even better. As I was exiting the place I saw a sign that made this place even more magical: OPEN 24/7. more

I've been going to Yambo Restaurant for years now. On citysearch it is recommended for on a budget dates but I dont see it as a place to go on a date. Its more like a family and friends place. It isnt romantic, the enviroment or mood I mean. It is in the southest side of Miami so i never go alone! specially late in the night. But during the day it is safe. Let me say it is Nicaraguense food, I dont know if i spelled it right. Large amounts for low price. Oh and lots of variarity. It has the indoor restaurant or you can eat outside. Ive ate indoors and outdoors. It is lonely indoors just you and the waitress because everyone eats outside. I guess it gives you that feel of the Nicaragua culture. Im cuaban-american and i feel like the ladies that serve you serve us less than the people that go which are usually nicaraguense. When that happens which almost everytime I feel bad but I cant help going its greatt food!!! Pros: always fresh, always hot. Cons: customers late at night. more
