It was cold in there. I felt they were trying to save money by keeping heat down. Pros: Appearance, Decor, Nice Waiter Cons: Everything else

good food but inconsistent with everything else 1/6/2009

I've been to Xios several times, for both eat-in and take-out. In most cases, the food has been fairly good. I had struggled to find good Greek food in the Triangle and this seems to fit the bill. My family and I have tried many of the dishes and generally have been pleased. Pros: good food, fairly good ambiance Cons: terrible customer service, inconsistent prices, limited hours more

Wonderful Service, Great Food 10/26/2008

I've been a customer at XIOS for a few months now, and I have to say, I love this restaurant! Everytime we walk in their is great service from start to finish. I am always greeted with a smile and prompty seated. The servers are warm and helpful and never comment on my horrible pronounciation of the Greek foods. The atmosphere is very family friendly, and the food is to die for! While my favorite dish is either the gyro or lemonato(pork and potatoes in a lemon sauce), I have tried almost everything on the menu and it is all very fresh and flavorful. They also have a very extensive wine selection, and while I am not really a big drinker, I do like their wines, especially the Demetri Red. To top it off, the entire menu is very reasonably priced, so I don't feel guilty about eating out. XIOS has great food, service and prices, what more can I ask for? Pros: Service, Food, Prices more

Best Greek Food in the Triangle 10/26/2008

OMG!!! I found this place back in April, and I love it! The food is so good! (especially the gyros and pastas) It's a really friendly atmosphere too, so I don't have to worry about dressing up or down. The best part is it tastes very authentic and doesn't drain my wallet : ) Pros: Food, Service, Decor, Music more

Average food, service is lacking 1/26/2008

After a few visits to this restaurant I've found the food is not consistent. Some entrees have been consistently good like the Garides Saganaki, but the special sea bass I ordered most recently (1/25/08) was overcooked, charred on the outside, and very bland. It was not at all what the server described it as. The sides are usually sauteed vegetables and rice or potatoes, and the vegetables are always soggy and lack flavor. They seem to hire young and inexperienced servers here. On our most recent visit we ordered wine and our waitress failed to bring us any glasses of water. After bringing our food she disappeared, and the restaurant was not at all busy at the time. We finished our entrees, she never came to check on us or refill drinks. We kept glancing around the room looking for her, other servers saw us looking around but never approached our table to help. The hostess was standing at her station talking to 3 of the male waiters, they obviously had nothing to do. Finally my husband stood up and walked around the restaurant looking for her and she finally appeared out of the kitchen, we asked for the check and promptly left. If this restaurant wants any more of my business they need to step up the flavor of their dishes and hire some more experienced help. Pros: appetizers, nice atmosphere Cons: sometimes bland and improperly cooked entrees, service more

Decent, but not nearly as good as Athena Greek Taverna in Winston 10/27/2007

Consistency of the Tsatziki was somewhat thick, but I couldn't taste any garlic. Thicker, more garlicky tsatziki is what I remember from my two visits to the Peloponnese and Central Greece--the type Athena Greek Taverna (AGT) in Winston makes. If you don't much care for garlic, you may love Xios' tsatziki. Pros: clean and friendly Cons: not enough garlic in the tsatziki, no kalamata olives in the salad, greasy pasticio more

Perfect dining experience 10/9/2007

Romantic, modern atmosphere. Crisp, clean staff. Lively location. Amazing food. more

I don't need to cook for my Greek husband anymore - we've discovered Xios! 8/5/2007

Denise and Kirk Hatzidakis have created a chic, fun and DELICIOUS Greek experience that reflects the atmosphere and flavors of Kirk's birthplace, the lovely island of Xios. I don't like eggplant as a general rule, but I can't resist ordering their mouth-watering ""Melitzana Iman"" every time I walk in! They have a delicious wine list, the mezethes are second to none, and the music is an exciting mix of traditional and modern Greek. The belly-dancing is absolutely professional and delightful - they encourage young and old alike to try it out - you should see the kids learning an ancient mode of movement, lovely to watch! The service is top-notch as well. All in all, a romantic evening well spent for very reasonable prices! Pros: Great value, great food, romantic and exotic atmosphere more

Best Greek food in the Triangle! 7/8/2007

Some of the best Greek food I've ever had! Gorgeous patio and ambience, courteous and well-trained staff. A great place to dine with family or for business. Lots of fun activities too, ie wine tasting, live music and belly dancing. Pros: Ambience, service, quality more

Best Moussaka in the state 6/21/2007

I have spent many years in Detroit, where Greektown rules and fresh Greek cuisine is easy to find. Recently moving back to NC, I tried several okay Greek restaurants, but had a hard time finding real, fresh and authentic Greek food -- and then I found XIOS. XIOS has it all, as well as the best rice pudding and lemon rice soup, great wines, great atmosphere and live entertainment. You can't go wrong at XIOS. Pros: ambiance is great - music and belly dancing, Tuesday wine specials, kids eat free Thurs. Cons: haven't found one yet more

Great food 4/21/2007

Great food with friendly and attentive service. I have been there several times and always had a good experience. more

Great greek cuisine, incredible appetizers 4/3/2007

This place is really nice. Great food, good prices, veyr nice ambience... The appetizers are so good you could just order a few to share and make that your dinner, but the entrees are all outstanding too. I loved the moussaka. Pros: delicious food, great variety, good prices. more

Best Greek Place in town! 10/27/2006

This place has very delicious and extremely well-priced Greek food, with beautiful ambiance. The service is usually really good - sometimes they get too busy and might forget to check on you, but it is truly a great place. I used to eat meat until recently so I have tried all the dishes; now I pick mostly vegeterian dishes. Only wish is that they would go easier on the salt but I am usually on low tolerance in that category. Great and highly recommended! Pros: Great price, great food, and nice ambiance! Cons: More variety, more exotic original dishes! more

Best Greek in Town...by far! 10/17/2006

WE dined here last evening. The ""strip mall"" location made us wonder if we'd made a mistake. However, once inside, we were VERY pleased with everything about this authentic Greek eatery. Try the $20 per person ""sampler"" meal- just awesome- you won't be disapponted! more

Authentic Eats, Belly Dancing and More - XIOS Authentic Greek Cuisine

Owner Message
  • The Greek island of Xios (pronounced khi-os), home to our family for generations, is known for its polite, peaceful residents and hospitality. We apply these same principles in our authentic Raleigh Greek restaurant, XIOS Authentic Greek Cuisine. Traditionally prepared food, often paired with superior quality Greek wines, is what you'll find at our family owned and operated Mediterranean restaurant.

We enjoy serving meals in a comfortable, old-world setting and preparing dishes using only the most fresh, familiar ingredients available. Authentic Greek Cuisine is a gathering spot for friends and families, but we've also created a romantic atmosphere with an open patio where couples can watch the sunset and enjoy sharing Mezethes (appetizers).

Be sure to stop by XIOS Authentic Greek Cuisine for belly dancing and salsa nights, too, where all are sure to have fun.
