Best

Xando isn't a bad place, but perhaps they're trying to do too many things at once - is it a coffee shop, a bar, or a cafe? Well, it's all three. During the warmer months, you can ...

A great compromise for an evening out 5/3/2006

If you've got a group that can't decide whether to satisfy their sweet tooth or enjoy a pint, give Xandos a try. This coffee bar is what it sounds like, a combination of a full service bar with a coffee shop. This one is open late, which is great for when the other restaurants in the area close for the night. The s'mores are probably the most widely known, but I suggest any of the arctic mochas. more

S'more coffee, anyone 2/5/2006

Xando is a Charles Street landmark, if only for the continual argument over whether it's pronounced "Zando" or "X and O's." (I prefer the first one!) They've got wonderful coffee drinks and snacks all served up in a swanky coffee shop and full-service bar. Stop by in the evening for their trademark "s'mores for four" and a hot coffee drink. Their smoothies are also really good. The outdoor patio is the place to be seen on North Charles Street during the summer, so come early to get a table and people-watch. more

Smores! 2/1/2006

Xando is part of the Cosi chain of coffee stores--they serve a variety of espresso drinks, frozen espresso drinks, espresso-based cocktails, and some light foods. My favorite thing to eat there is definitely their make-your-own Smores--a great way to spend an evening with friends. Their espresso drinks are very good, although a bit on the expensive side. Also, from time to time they have events like poetry readings--which can definitely intrude on your quality time with your friends if you're not expecting it. more

funny name...good food 9/14/2005

Well the debate goes on regarding how this place is pronounced, but the food and drinks are always good. It's a fun littlespot to sit around on comfy couchs and hang out with your friends...the samore's plate is awesome to share with your friends...they bring out all the fixings and a small sterno to cook them..it's lots of fun. Downstairs they have Jazz bands play, but you can still hear them from upstairs and save yourself the $30 to get in. more

Good quiet place 8/16/2005

Xando (Actually supposed to be pronounced "Ex and Oh") is a great place to go to relax and get a bite to eat or a cup of coffee. They offer wireless Internet for free in the proximity of the building, which is great for the student who wants a change of scenery while working. They have a relatively wide selection of coffees and sandwiches and such, and the prices are reasonable enough. more

Great Ambience and Dessert 8/15/2005

Probably what Hopkins students go to Xando's most for is their sharable smore's plate. They bring out your choice of grahm crackers or giant Oreo halves, marshmallows, and Hershey's chocolate bars. There's also a little can of a wax-like substance that they light for you. And voila! Indoor smores! They're delicious and a great way to spend time with friends because it's all on one giant plate. It's not too expensive, and the ambience is great. It's cozy but stylish and the service is very good. Also, they have very good salads, I have to say, they're even a little on the "gourmet" side with their food. The only reason why I didn't give this place 4 stars is because one time I went there and this new waitress spilled my latte all over me. Anyway, other than that, all my experiences have been good. more
