My Word Of Life Experience 7/10/2009

I was going into 3rd grade the first time I ever visited Word of Life. My sister was going into 2nd. It was the first time we had ever been away from our parents. During the day there was so much to do. We went horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts and had daily devotions and Bible studies. The counselors were wonderful and patient, especially at night when I would cry myself to sleep because I was homesick. My little sister did fine:) I accepted Jesus as my savior that summer. Every year after that we would go back to Word Of Life. ( I wasn't homesick anymore) When we got older we went to the Island for teens. That was also alot of fun. Some of my fondest memories are when I was at Word of Life. I am 40 years old now with 2 boys of my own. Our summers are so jam packed with sports and now that one is older, a summer job. I am sorry that they have never experienced Word Of Life. The good news is that both my boys are saved. Thanks Word of Life. You changed my life!!! more

Word of Life Camp - Schroon Lake, NY 6/29/2006

I went to camp on beautiful Schroon Lake in the Adirondack mountains of New York State. Word of Life was a Christian based fellowship and had a ranch type theme. Campers progressed up the ranks from deputies (aged 6 & 7), sheriffs (aged 8-10) and rangers (pre-teens) and I enjoyed some wonderful summers there. Learned to roast marshmallows, ride a horse, swim in a lake, camp in the outdoors and make friends from all across the world. Every summer I recall singing endless choruses of "I'm going to heaven and I can't wait" and drinking bug juice (Kool-Aid). Counselors were students attending Bible colleges throughout the US and they were terrific. Caring, patient and always willing to give their support. The camp is still in operation and I've visited the grounds when taking my children up to camp near Lake George, NY over the past 14 summers. Boy, does this bring back memories? more
