Not special, but not bad either 2/12/2010

Local, mainly after-work bar. Slightly Irish style with lots of TVs and a friendly bar-tender at the bar in front. There are table-clothed tables to one side in the back, high tables with stools on the other side. Crowded for happy hour, the crowd thins out around 10PM, when the waitress leaves. If you sit at a table, no one (except the waitress) will come over to talk to you. That's typical in New York. To mingle, you gotta stand at the bar. As for food, the quesadilla is a bit bland, but not bad. The wings have a decent kick to them. Oh yeah, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. (The manager gave us a free drink!) It's a nice off-the-tourist-radar place and a good place to bring a group when you just want to be by yourselves. --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers Pros: Friendly staff, good wings Cons: Food somewhat bland more

typical crapy midtown bar 3/1/2009

Midtown is notoriously cheesy and bland when it comes to afterwork affair, but this venue was especially so. The drinks were poorly made, weak and over priced. the food had no continuity to it, and neither my girlfriend or me could finish even a third of our meal (we ordered chicken wings, and a chicken sandwhich of some sort) The music was too loud and it was supposedly happy hour, but we were charged full price for our drinks due to the fact that the waitress poured top shelf liqour without asking us first. the atmosphere was drab and confusing. i was extremely displeased as i was leaving and felt robbed of thirty bucks Pros: the location is convenient if you work in midtown Cons: everything else more

Great Happy Hour Bar 1/19/2009

As a person who works 3 blocks away, this is by far the best happy hour in the neighborhood. Drinks are about average price, the scene is very chill, young professional, and music isnt too loud. Food is nothing special but the appetizers are just enough. Im here about 3 times a week with my coworkers. Great bar staff as well, and the Lukes replacement fits right in with Quaz!! Great job Tom Trimmer, you have a fantastic spot thats worth traveling from the UES to. Pros: Great scene, great bar staff, cute boys Cons: Can get crowded, bathrooms downstairs, entrees not so great more

Nice cozy little place...moderately price drinks, though service was quite good. I went there with a group of 4 and we were settled and got our first rounds relatively quick...nothing special about of the food but still i'd go back if i were in the area Pros: Speedy service Cons: food/prices more

Their bourbon selection was limited to one: Maker's Mark. And it cost me $11.50 for that! On a positive note, they did have free tortilla chips (very Irish!) and salsa. So there's that. more

Nothing to write home about 3/1/2008

A lot of hype for a so-so place. Be prepared to pay good coin for this wanna be hip place that lacks character or "vibe". Food is not good and they try to pretend it is, my group ordered several items of the dinner type menu-think from southern cuisine to Asian influence plates?? -with an ok general feeling from the group. This is not gastro-pub dinning folks. Nothing to write home about. Service was the only good experience of the evening. I think there is better options around the area to spend your cash. LOVE this place! I don't even know where to begin...the chips and salsa are amazing, the music is great, the service is great. I have been there when two girls were re-enacting the Dirty Dancing routines, lift and all. And don't even get me started on how delicious those shots of Baby Guiness are! AMAZING! more

Best Place to Black out and get beligerent on a Friday 1/9/2008

My favorite place to spend a Friday after work. Bartenders make great shots and everyone is so friendly. I even got so wasted that I forgot to pay my bar tab once, and was welcomed back the next week with open arms. more

Stopped by here on a Thursday Night DJ played good music although the white people who danced had no rhythm. Beers are overpriced $5.25 for a Coors Light. Door staff is friendly. more

Great Private Event 10/22/2007

Held a private event there for work on a Monday and it was great. Tom was extremely helpful and everyone had a wonderful time. From the younger workers to the older ones - everyone had fun. The passed platters never stopped coming and were great and the bartenders were very nice and kept your drink full. If you need to book a private event do it through them. They are great! more

Never disappoints 7/12/2007

I've been here on a few occassions and have always enjoyed myself. Once for a Halloween party and it rocked, the bartenders were working hard! The other times were with small groups of friends. Went in to meet a friend for a drink...or two. Had a great time!!! Michael who provided a dinner suggestion, was right on the mark, and his service was exceptional! Highly recommend this as a great place to meet up and really enjoyed the casual atmosphere! more

This place is definately good for after work and networking with people in the midtown area. Happy hour is good. This place is somewhere you can definately unwind. The staff is good. Best midtown lounge hangout 12/4/2006

For more than 6 years I've been hitting Windfall, whether for lunch or for the happy hours. I've gone with friends and co-workers, and hosted more than my fair share of private events there. What separates Windfall from other bars is the quality of the staff. They pour terrific drinks and if you take 2 seconds to start a conversation with Kris, Kwaz, Mike, or Kate, they'll repay you tenfold with courteous and attentive service. I laughed out loud at some of the negative remarks, where the reviewers used words like "cheesy" and "no vibe" to knock Windfall. If enjoying beverages with top notch service in a relaxed setting doesn't make the grade, please don't come by the bar...the patrons would rather not rub shoulders with you anyway!!! Stopped by to meet a couple friends after work. Was pleasently surprised at how great a time we had. We planned on a drink and going home. Instead we ended up closing the place. i stopped by on a mon night for some relaxed food and was pleasantly surprised. the food was hot and delicious, reasonably priced. the place was relatively empty when we were there but the waitress was so nice. only detraction was a loud bartender who was doing obvious shots while working but hey, whatever works. i'd go back for the food- Pros: hot, yummy food Cons: obnoxious bartender more

I met some friends after work here and had a blast. It's fun and lively with great music & crowd pleasing staff. We tried the thin crust pizza & grilled shrimp cocktail, both outstanding. No other place in mid-town compares. My new favorite! Pros: fun staff, great food, beer selection more

21st B-day 8/8/2005

Last week i took my brother out for his 21st B-day. we stumbled on this bar wind fall. it ended up being the best place we went that night. It was a nice big area. the crowd was laid back but having a good time, and the staff was very happy and out going. The bartenders were more than happy celebrating my brothers 21st with us. they also had great burgers and an excellent Dj. all in all i would recomend this place to anybody looking to have a good time.     The dark wood paneling, gilded ceiling and 44-foot curved bar give the space a lofty air that belies Windfall's genial atmosphere. The after-work crowd enjoys 25 different kinds of beers (10 on tap), generous flavored martinis and plenty of camaraderie. Plasma screens play whatever's local or requested. Windfall opens for lunch with what might be called Nouvelle Southern cuisine. Items include black-bean crabcakes or a mango-pineapple BBQ duck wrap.
