Best

I had an amazing time here last Friday. It seems like a pretty quiet place, but I was extremely surprised to see the sort of after-work crowd it attracts. The girls were hot, th...

Worst

Went in after work around 6pm. They proudly displayed an Irish flag in front of the bar- but the bar staff lacked even a little Irish hospitality. Their bourbon selection was li...

satisfied customer 8/7/2005

on visiting new york, on vacation i dined in windfall restaurant, for lunch after a morning of shopping in the city. the food service and atmosphere were second to none, so i decided to return later in the evening for drinks, and appetizers, and found the place to be just as good, as i had experienced earlier. it was fun, full of life and the staff were very warm and inviting. i would highly reconmend this restaurant to my friends, and to all ,that visit manhattan. Pros: clean, friendly staff, excellent food and dr Cons: did not, find, any more

I think this place is lowbrow 4/5/2004

I prefer someplace more upscale like TOWN. I really didn't enjoy this pub, the food and drinks weren't good, service was quite slow and it was sticky. Pros: location, location, location Cons: , slow service, not good crowd more

Not sure why this is BEST OF 3/31/2004

I recommend the LIVING ROOM. I recently stopped into Windfall with some coworkers and was surprised at the large crowd. I found the bar was way too noisy, service was unreasonably slow, drinks were flimsy and the food was far from fresh. Pros: afterwork bar, slightly cheaper, crowded Cons: , noisy, very bad service more

a big disappointment 3/29/2004

Not clean, poor service, the crowd was very age mixed, thought it would be younger. Blasting music. The hostess was nice but the manager was quite rude. Pros: crowded, cheaper drinks, nice hostess Cons: , not much in location, bad service more

Why is this well rated? 3/29/2004

I am wondering why this restaurant is well rated when the drinks are watered down and the food is pretty lousy. It does gather a decent sized crowd though. Pros: cheaper drinks, crowded, good music Cons: , bad food, rude bartender more

Best Ever! 6/12/2003

Favorite Bar of all time in New York! Bartenders are superb. Great personality and very attentive. Drinks are not to expensive either! Beautiful ambience! I definately reccommend Pros: Not too expensive, Great Bartenders!, Good Croud! more

Private Party - Highly Recommended! 3/30/2003

We recently hosted a private party at the Windfall and the experience was outstanding. The bartenders were extremely friendly and really added to the experience. Tom did a great job arranging everything for us - our guests were really blown away by the classiness of the old wood panels and decor. All in all I could not have asked for a better experience. Highly Recommended! Pros: Very Classy, Fun Bartenders, Reasonable Price more

  • In Short
The dark wood paneling, gilded ceiling and 44-foot curved bar give the space a lofty air that belies Windfall's genial atmosphere. The after-work crowd enjoys 25 different kinds of beers (10 on tap), generous flavored martinis and plenty of camaraderie. Plasma screens play whatever's local or requested. Windfall opens for lunch with what might be called Nouvelle Southern cuisine. Items include black-bean crabcakes or a mango-pineapple BBQ duck wrap.
