No longer open and I'm out $300! :-( 5/12/2009

I bought a gift certificate for a romantic spa package for my husband and I for Valentine's Day. We call to schedule the appointment...they're closed! No longer open - BANKRUPT! And I'm out $300+ with no spa day!! No one called me to tell me this or anything..I had to find out by calling, plus reading it on the internet (see review below). I'm NOT happy... more

Bankrupt? 3/15/2009

My husband booked a spa day for me and my sister for my birthday. The spa called at 4:30 the afternoon before our 9:0) am appointment to let us know that they had filed bankruptcy and would no longer be open. more

Not the best massage 1/24/2009

My fiance and I had a close to you bath & a unique touch massage in the VIP suite. The suite was very nice and private, but it was upstairs to you had to go outside of the spa to get to the elevator which took you upstairs to the suite. I thought this was weird. The close to you bath: the water was way too hot when we got in so we had to turn on the cold water for a while so we could actually enjoy it. Then, when we turned the jets on in the jacuzzi, the bubbles would start to overflow and we'd have to turn them off! I think they put the whole bottle of bubble bath in there. We also got a plate of fruit, which was fresh and good, and some water. After the bath, we had our massages. It was a combo of swedish massage, hot stones, hot towels, & aromatherapy. I was disappointed when my fiance said they used the stones and towels on his back and legs (I only got them on my back...and 1 single towel at that). It might as well have been a regular swedish massage. The towel & stones were a little too hot, but I adjusted to them. I had rafael do my massage and I have to say I've had better (and for a cheaper rate too). So after our massages we went back downstairs into the relaxation room for 20-30min. No one ever came back and told us we could change back into our clothes, we were just left there and no one was around. So we took it upon ourselves to leave and get dressed then went to the front to pay. I'm not sure if this is the usual here (it was our first time at this spa) but I thought it was weird we were put in that room and given no instruction as to when we could change or whether they were coming back for us. The lady at the front desk was always very nice. She offered us a drink upon arrival & made sure to ask if everything went well when we left. Overall, I would probably not come back here. I will drive a little farther to sugarland and get a 1hr, better massage for $50 or at least try other spas before I would even consider this place again. Pros: location easy to get to Cons: weird set-up, expensive for what we got more

$50 Spa Pedicure - Don't bother 1/21/2009

My BF set an appt for me to get a 30 min massage and a spa pedicure. The massage was average. Didn't seem like the oils used were as good as other places. The Spa pedicure was so bad. The person doing it admitted to being the first time doing it at Venice. She had to ask where things were. She forgot to scrub one foot to get the dead skin off. She finishes up and uses the aerosol nail dryer and says your done. Ok, here I am in their stupid robe that I am now supossed to go change into my jeans with wet toe nails? I said screw it. Change and see what happens. Of course, the pedicure gets all screwed up. She had the nerve to tell me I should be careful. I felt like saying, well anyone that has had a pedicure, should know that drying the toes is important, especially before changing clothes. Do yourself a favor, skip the pedicure, and go to a dime a dozen nail shop for a much cheaper and better job. Cons: Over priced for the level of service. more

Had an amazing day w/ friends 10/14/2008

I went to Venice Day Spa last month to celebrate my birthday with a couple of friends and everything was great. Since the time I called to book the appointment, they were very helpful in recommending special treatments and explaining what each service is (Unique Touch Massage it's the best!) and even offer 20% off for EVERYBODY since it's a birthday. All the staff was so nice and really cared for us to get the best experience possible. The enviroment it's so peaceful and relaxing. Now we will make it a tradition to celebrate each others birthday at a day at the spa! Pros: Great environment and staff more

Best Massage Ever - Professional/Experienced 9/29/2008

Last weekend I was finally able to get away and pamper myself. My massage therapist was Rafael, and his technique was the best I?ve ever experienced. His massage was very professional and his mannerism was very courteous throughout the entire session. I am a very particular person and expect the best. During the massage, I was completely draped and never felt uncomfortable. My experience at this day spa was wonderful and extremely enjoyable. I will, definitely, come back. more

Feeling violated 7/24/2008

I'm amazed at all the glowing reviews about Rafael. Maybe I'm just a prude but I felt his massage and his manner was very inappropriate. If you have any issues about modesty, you should definitely steer clear of him because the drape was mostly OFF of me during the massage, and parts of his massage were a little too close for comfort to private areas. At the end of the massage he kissed me on the forehead and then didn't leave the room when I got up to put my robe on! I was horrified and couldn't wait to pay and get out of there. Fortunately when I called to complain the owner apologized and offered to reimburse me. But it's a mystery to me that so many people are raving about him. I've had many massages before and have never felt violated like I did after this experience. Pros: very nice receptionist, good wine and nice relaxation room Cons: Rafael -- inappropriate more

Amazing Customer Service and Great Services 5/8/2008

My cousin was visiting Houston for the first time and we decided to have a "Girls Weekend" that included a spa day. After calling numerous spas all over Houston we called the Gessner location of the Venice Day Spa. Miriam was amazing over the phone and even rescheduled some people to accomodate our times and needs. Once we arrived Nora was a great hostess making sure we had everything we needed. The facial was fantastic and while we waited we relaxed with a dry sauna and a quiet room. The service and attention was amazing. Their prices are very reasonable as well. Although we were there much longer then expected (they had an esthetician that had to leave unexpectedly) they were very apologetic and made sure that we were very comfortable during the time we had to wait. If you are looking for a place that has excellent customer service, great services and pays attention to details then I would recommend Venice Salon and Day Spa (The South Gessner location) Pros: Amazing customer service and reasonable prices Cons: Pedicure and solar nail fill were just ok more

Birthday gift /Engagement 2/10/2008

I attended the S. Gessner location in Nov 2007. All I can say it was an amazing experience, wonderful service(manicure, pedicure, massage(all for my fiance) and couples bath). With the assistance of the masseur from the Gessner location, I was able to create my proposal to my fiance, a one of a kind proposal. He allowed me to set up the massage/couples Aromatherapy Jacuzzi room for the proposal with my own music(ipod, ipod speaker system), a rose(which the masseur provided. i forgot about it. I was nervous) and a scrab book I made(It was collections of places we have been and things we did over a years time). He even helped me in getting my fiance out of the massage room(this was after she completed all her session I planned for her), so I could set up the room for the proposal. He told her he was setting up the room for an extra session from him, for her birthday, when actually it was me proposing. We had the entire day planned down to the minute and he kept me informed of how the entire day went. Also if she suspected anything throughout the day of pampering. The entire staff was wonderfulI, even when they were sneaking me around the spa so she wouldn't see me. LOL. I couldn't ask for anything more, Did I say wonderful service and staff? Also it was had a personal feel, the massuer gave me his personal phone number to confirm the entire proposal and set up. He also said its whatever I wanted, skies the limit. Its going to hard to top this for wedding anniversary's. LOL. FIVE STAR SERVICE, can't wait to go back for a couples massage session. I'd recommend anyone to go to venice salon and day spa. Just don't use my one of a kind proposal. LOL. Pros: Wonderful Service, Friendly, Very helpful, Great Romantic Atmosphere Cons: none more

Great massage!! Book ahead. 11/29/2007

Best massage in town. Medium pressure is really medium pressure. Had a couple from Jennifer last month and spent 90 minutes with Ruth today. None better. Also a great location. more

Treatments were great, but noisy environment for a spa 11/1/2007

My husband and I did the couples package for our 5th wedding anniversary. For $700 we received 1hr massages, 30 minutes in a jacuzzi tub, 1 hr facials, manicure and pedicure and body exfoliation and hydro-therapy. While the staff was extremely friendly and attentive, the salon downstairs was right outside the spa doors, making it possible to hear people walking and talking and slamming the doors right outside the spa rooms. Salon patrons were even using the spa bathrooms coming in and out shutting doors, taking away from what should be a calm, quiet relaxing environment. This being my husband's first time to do anything like this, he was very pleased with the treatments we received, however, I was disappointed in the length and thoroughness of my facial (which should have been an hour, but was only 25 minutes) We were served a nice lunch and offered beverages through out the 6hr stay. While the staff and treatments were great, I do not recommend this spa if you are looking for a quiet tranquil escape. As part of our couples package we had access to the 2nd floor VIP suite, and for the price we were paying the suite should have been exclusively for couples doing this particular package of treatments, but other spa guests were upstairs walking in and out making noise. The spa also shares a building with a doctor's office, so you can hear the office staff clanking around in their high heels while you're getting a massage. (I was supposedly the first person to ever point that out, according to my massage therapist, though I think that is unlikely considering how loud and clear I could hear it). I would say for the price we spent, I was disappointed in the environment of the spa, I was hoping for a more secluded experience. Pros: Friendly staff, hydro-tub was amazing Cons: VERY noisy!!! more

THE BEST YOU EVER HAD! 8/9/2007

This place is unbelievable! Better than the famous Biosilk Spa in the galleria. I have been to Venice for many of my massages...including my prenatal massage. I would say hands down they are the Best in town. They have great customer service and you will never leave unhappy. Jenny is the best message therapist. Gets all the right spots! They also have the best deals and always has a special going on! I would recommend you go no where else! Pros: Most polite staff I have ever come upon more

WONDERFUL and RELAXING! BEST PLACE AROUND HOUSTON!!!!!!!!! 7/28/2007

I highly recommended to everyone I know! Keep up the great work Venice! Jennifer delivers the best massages and Tanishea knows HAIR! Pros: Wonderful Staff and great atmosphere more

Wonderful Staff and Spa 7/26/2007

I purchased the couples massage package for a Christmas present and it was great. I have had plenty of massages at various spas and i have to say Venice is my favorite. Jennifer took wonderful care of us and took time to help me with the right package to purchase. It was a wonderful experience for my boyfriend and i and would definetly do it again. Pros: Staff is Great more

The Royal Treatment on Chimney Rock 7/26/2007

The last review must not have been the Chimney Rock location, because there isn't any problems with the AC there! I have been going to one of the massage therapist for over the last year and have sent many of my friends there, and they have all loved the experience. Ask for Jennifer and you will be treated like a king or queen. They do have two locations now, one off of Gessner and Westheimer and one in the Galleria area. I highly recommend the Galleria staff and wouldnt go anywhere else!! Pros: Geniune talented staff more

High Price For Non Working A.C. and a Back Ache Afterwards 7/24/2007

This was our anniversary so we received the Ultimate Massage For Two in The VIP Suite. You first change in a SMALL room and then given a beverage. The worker escorts you to a "relaxation room" which was about 95 degrees. He said that the AC was broken and it was HOT! And then he allowed us into the Suite where the the tub was filled with lukewarm water. As we sat the faucet piece fell into the water and as we sat we noticed there was a gapping HOLE with MOLD growing in it. The water was sloushing in and out and it was disgusting. Needless to say, my husband is a muscular guy and he said he felt that the lady was trying to cause "bruising" she was massage TOO Hard. It was Hot HOT HOT ! And when it was time to go we had to escort ourselves out. I have been too many spas and I thought this one to be distasteful! Will never go back. Needless to say, our anniversary was ruined. Pros: Parking Cons: Too many to list more

Great hands 7/8/2007

I highly recommend this spa. Great management combined with top notch customer service and highly enthusiatic technicians provide for a relaxing, yet therapeutic visit. I have been using their CMTs for over 4 years and would not go anywhere else! more

Simply the BEST!! 7/5/2007

Stop right now, you have found the best day spa in Houston. The entire staff is incredible, but I must say that Jennifer's massage is absolute heaven on earth! My husband and I had the couples massage in the Vip suite with Jennifer and Ruth. Ruth has magic hands too! We enjoyed a luxurous jacuzzi bubble bath with fruit and wine, then received, hands down the best massages we've ever had! The indulgance didnt end there, we both had facials, then lunch in the private cafe area, followed by spa pedicures and manicures, in the VIP area. I am hooked now, and i will be back regularly. Pros: Relaxing atmosphere, lockers and showers, relaxation suite, Vip area Cons: parking more

Sheer Luxury! 6/28/2007

What a beautiful spa!! I had the best massage I have ever had, by Jennifer! I followed this up with a facual, by Sid, so gentle and refreshing, a manicure/pedicure and then I had my hair styled. Everyone was professional - the decor and ambience is so serene and oh I had my massage in the VIP Suite which has a corner jacuzzi, dry sauna and it's own bathroom and massage table! Try it - you'll love it too - but remember to rate it afterward so other people can enjoy this luxury too! Pros: Ambience, serenity, wonderful staff Cons: none more
