I switched from Old Marple after several bad experiences. I talked to the owner about one of them and he wasn't even moved by my\r horrible experience with one of his so called vet dr. I pay more where I am now but the people there are great, personable and love my animals. They are all about the money at Old Marple - I told anyone who would listen after my last bad experience and believe me, many people told me they, too, had bad luck with them.\r Too bad - they suck - I wouldn't take a fly there.\r I give it NO stars! more

horrible horrible place!!!! 7/3/2007

this veterinary center is horrible. they lie to you about your pet right to your face. the vet talked to me as if i were a child and was very unprofessional. i would never recommend this place to anyway. if you love your pet don't take them to old Marple to get checked they will end up diagnose the animal wrong, or killing the poor thing. they don't know what they are doing there more

Terrible. 6/23/2007

One star is really too many. I got a free vet visit here after getting my puppy from a local pet store. Maybe it's because it was a "free visit" (still had to pay for vaccinations...the only thing that was free was the very limited exam my puppy got) but the vet seemed really uneducated. First off, she was sitting and reading e-mails when we got there. She was still sitting while she asked me questions about my puppy. Finally she got up and did a very small exam on him. My puppy has breathing problems and I brought in a video to get it diagnosed. She said she "thought" it was reversed sneezing. Yeah, thanks for that doc, I think I could have done that myself!!!! Then, she said I could bring him back in four weeks for more shots. Well the pet store gives me ten days to clear any illness he came with and guess what, I found worms in his poo today (tapeworms to be exact) and I called the vet ASAP and told them I needed to come in to get my free medicine as the pet store must cov more

Emergency 6/22/2007

My beloved dog Heidi took ill suddenly on a Sunday afternoon. It was clear she needed emergency medical treatment. I contacted OMVC and they indicated a wait of 5 hours was possible. We were taken to a room shortly after arrival and our Heidi was soon put in an oxygen cage. I believe she was provided exemplary care, proper testing and evaluation and medications in an attempt to save her life. more

When Old Marple Veterinary Practice started years ago it was so much smaller and because of that and what seemed like dedication to their patients, it was also more capable of handling their patient load. From the reception staff to the kennel to the doctors and techs,they were a friendly and responsible group practice that offered excellent and compassionate care. But in recent years there has been not only a shift in size of their building,the doctors on staff, and patient list, there has been a paradigm shift, as well. The entire focus seems to be financial gain and to support this thought I will give one example and you can do with it what you will. The owner of the practice is validating purchases of pet store puppies by giving free check ups to owners who buy their puppies and at a particular pet shop in Springfield. Given the situation of how these pet stores obtain there puppies it is totally inhumane to validate these types of purchases. more

OLD MARPLE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!! 5/25/2007

I was SO shocked to see 4 bad reviews for this vet/hospital. I was going to a vet that was not a hospital as well. Then my cat got sick one night & I called them as it was after 8pm & I didn't know what to do & was frantic. My sister uses Old Marple & loves them & suggested I call them. I told them his symptom's & they told me to bring him right in. It was a Sunday night. I took him over & they took me right back to see the ER doctor. He told me what was wrong & exactly what needed to be done. He said he had to unblock him & after it was done, he would call me to let me know how he was doing. 2 hours later, he called me, told me he was doing ok & that I would get a call every day from the ER dr w/ an update. I got those calls from the dr's who were SO nice & answered all my q's. I also called them several times a day & they were nice enough to check on him & give me updates each time. One of the tech's there was SOOO nice, he talked to me for 45 mins on the phone & explained all that w more

Old Marple is Awful!! 4/28/2007

The place is a dump, they have horrible service at the front desk, and are very inaccurate.I took my dog there last year, and I was told he was in great shape, but 2 months later he became sick and was diagnosed with cancer. They said it looks like had been in there awhile, and nobody said anything to me. I am truly disappointed in this Veterinary Center. more

I took my rabbit in as an emergency visit for complications after her spay which was performed there. Waited 3 hours in the waiting room. Then the dr. told me I would not be charged for hospital stay since she was post op and when I went to pick her up 3 days later they charged me and the front desk girls were SOOOOO rude. I finally got it straigntened out and they said they would mail me my refund because they were wrong. That was a month ago and I am still waiting for my refund. They rip you off big time go somewhere else, it's not worth it TRUST ME!!!! more

Don't listen to the bad reviews!!!! 1/2/2007

My 2 month old Min Pin (Roman) got very sick on New Year's Eve. I called the emergency line at Old Marple and explained his symptoms. He was bloated (badly) and was getting sick and he would not play or eat. I was so scared,and the woman was very nice and told me to keep an eye on him and give him bland food at 10am the next day, but if he got worse to call back. Well, he did get worse, so they took me right away at 9am new year's day. The doctor found what was wrong with him and she was very caring and kind. Both of the doctors who took care of Roman kept in contact with me and even left me voicemails to let me know how he was doing. They called me more than once to let me know what was going on, and I am very grateful for that. I got Roman back today and he looks great. He's 100% better and the woman who brought him out to me told me how great he was and how much she enjoyed spending time taking care of him. She was also very kind as are the other employees. Don't use this vet 12/28/2006

Let me start off by saying that 1 star is too many. Old Marple in my eyes should have a big fat 0!! We have a 6 month old puppy that went in to be "fixed" and to have her dew claw removed. They told us they would call after the surgery to let us know her condition. It was 8pm before WE had to call and get information. We were put on hold 4 times for 10 minutes at a time and when we were finally helped we were told she is "fine." We were not able to get any other information from them. This was 3 days ago. Our puppy is still not eating and will not drink water, she has be vomiting for two days now with an empty stomach. We took her back today and found out that she was not fed or given water in her over night stay there, and then they wanted us to admit her again. We refused and they gave us a hard time about it. I will never go back to this vet, and I suggest that no one should use them. They have horrible customer service skills and are not friendly and do not know what is going on! I more
