Shannon is a hill of fun, but she's not just a great personality. I went to her after having several disappointing waxes at various spas around town and wanting to see if her claim matched reality. I was very happy with my first wax, and have been extremely happy since. The brazilian wax was the least painful and best wax I've had, and I have been to several places that claim to be the best brazilian around. The only negative thing I have to say about Urban Waxx is that it's really hard to find. First timers, get to 17th and Lovejoy a good 5 mins early and call Shannon to walk you through finding her :) Pros: Amazing wax, Shannon is lots of fun, great little studio Cons: tough to find more

Before going to Shannon I checked out her website and read just about every review on here. Needless to say I was already impressed by all of the raves by all of her happy customers. I was even more impressed to read her response to the ONE AND ONLY mediocre review. Shannon lives up to "the best wax you'll ever have" and more. I recently went to her for my very first brazillian wax. She was more than wonderful and made me feel as comfortable that someone can in the given situation =]. I have and will continue to refer her to all of my friends and family for all of their waxing needs. Thanks Shannon! Pros: Everything! Cons: Can't think of any. more

After seeing Urban Waxx listed on Portland Picks and reading the great reviews on CitySearch, I decided to make an appointment for a wax. It had been a while since I had waxed, mainly because I have found it so difficult to find a place and person I like going to and that I trust. I decided to take a leap of faith and make an appointment at Urban Waxx, and I am SO glad I did! My appointment was this evening, and it truly was the BEST wax I've ever had. Absolutely as close to painless as is humanly possible...I actually would call it pain-free, honestly (and I'm a wimp AND pregnant, so they say it typically hurts even more). May have been the great conversation (Shannon is SUCH a doll!), relaxed and private atmosphere, Shannon's technique, or a combination of all of the above. Either way, it was an amazing experience. I will definitely be back! Thanks, Shannon! Pros: The PERFECT waxing experience Cons: Impossible to come up with any more

Today I got my first brazilian wax, and it was a very pleasant experience to say the least. I had never had any part of my body waxed, and chose Shannon (Urban Waxx) because of the rave reviews I read about her here on city search. To anyone who is looking to find a great wax in a comfortable atmosphere, Urban Waxx is the place to go, and Shannon is your girl! She is the sweetest, funniest and cutest chick ever. She has a way of making an awkward, "bare it all" waxing appointment into a chat session that keeps your mind off the fact that you're "bareing it all" to a complete stranger who is ripping hairs out of very sensitive areas. Don't be turned away by one or two negative reviews like the last person who posted a review for today's date. Urban Waxx is the place to go! I will refer anyone who needs an esthetician to her, and talk everyone else into switching from their current esthetician to Shannon. So my review.....URBAN WAXX IS FABULOUS! Cons: NONE! more

O.K. My girlfriend and I went to Shannon to get a Brazilian, recommended by a friend and we had never experienced one before. She made you feel comfortable, after that glass of red wine, and swiftly Shannon makes you feel like a baby's bottom. It was Amazing, and I am still reaping the benefits :) Please, all gay women (it won't let me spell it out, it says its an inappropriate word, which is sooo untrue city search!), call Shannon so you'll have a good time! Shannon is my regular waxer and I think that I will just allow myself to get hairy if she ever leaves town! She is professional and personable as well as extremely adept at what she does. Her space is immaculate and very well decorated. You wouldn't think that getting the hair ripped out of your most private area would be an enjoyable but you will be pleasantly surprised by going to shannon. The results are great. Thank you shannon! Pros: clean, fast, and Shannon is great! Cons: none! more

What a find! 5/2/2007

In a very recent visit to Portland, a friend encouraged me to do something I'd never done in my life --- have my eyebrows and bikini line waxed. Even though my hair color is naturally light, I've always fought the bikini 'fuzz' line, with a razor --- never satisfactory but passable as long as I did it regularly. Wow! What an experience I had a Urban Waxx. Shannon did my eyebrows so quickly and easily, I hardly knew that she was doing it. She understood my feelings about 'being the first time' for my bikini wax but made me feel completely at ease in seconds. Her place is serene and sophisticated, true, but most importantly, it is also spotless. Within a few minutes, I was telling Shannon my life story while in the most unusual but relaxed position. So now, what do I do? I live far away! Maybe she will open a second location by me? Please??? Pros: Immaculate place; serene surroundings, painless waxing Cons: None more
