I feel like pudding. 2/20/2009

My boyfriend got me a gift certificate for valentine's day. I got the total package and it was awesome. Howard was relaxing from the start, mellow tone of voice, casual pace, and that did not change, he never rushed or changed the pace. When I got there Howard went over the little questionnaire with me and we talked about where I was tense, what I wanted, things to avoid, prior experiences, etc. We talked for about 10-15 minutes. In the massage room Howard let me chose the scent for aromatherapy, explained the kinds of things he would be doing, and answered more questions. I was left alone to undress and get comfy on the table, which had a warming pad under it - very nice! The massage started light and relaxing, and Howard incorporated little bits of harder pressure where I have knots and tense spots, but it was never painful or distracting. At times he had his hands in two different places, for example, one hand working on a tense area around my neck with more pressure, and the other on my opposite side with light pressure. Howard said it was an integrated massage with relaxation, medium pressure, some stretching, and other things that I don't remember. I also got hot stones, as well as exfoliation. I had never had hot stones, but I would describe it as a warm/hot "thing" with a smooth texture gliding across the oil on the skin. Very neat! The exfoliation was very interesting too, not sharp or painful or anything, but I was aware that the texture of the brush was coarse. I was so completely relaxed by that point that it did not feel uncomfortable at all. In fact, it was a great contrast in sensations, then back to soft and relaxing! Afterwards, Howard sat with me and went over the experience, asked what I liked and did not like, things like that. Even with someone waiting in the lobby, he continued to give me undivided attention and did not rush me. The first words out of my mouth were, "I feel like pudding." We were so excited to have found Village Massage. My husband and I love to get massages when ever possible especially when we travel. Our preference is for places like Village Massage, a small, and charming massage place where you go to feel great. Amazing Ultimate Massage 11/17/2008

Being my first massage, I wanted to find the right place. After reading the reviews about Howard, I went ahead and made my appointment. Things I considered before my choice was 1: Personal Service: I did not want to go to a 'chain' massage outlet because I did not want to be rushed or feel anonymous. Howard got to know me personally before the massage, nothing intrusive, and answered any questions I had, allowing him to customize the experience. Also during the massage, he asked how things were progressing, so he could adjust to things I liked or didnt like (I did not dislike anything during the experience). You get the Full Time you request for the massage also. 2: Professionalism: I was looking for a 100% professional place and I got exactly what I was looking for. Not at any point during the massage did I feel 'uncomfortable'. Privacy and personal space was respected throughout the experience: you undress and change in the room by yourself and body sections are exposed only when worked on. You are in a private, quiet room about the size of a standard queensized bedroom so it wasnt claustrophobic. 3: Good Reviews: From EVERYONE that got a massage from Howard there is NOTHING but EXCELLENT reviews and he truly LIVED UP to this expectation :) It was easy to make an appointment. I called the number and spoke to Howard directly over the phone. VERY professional and accomodating over the phone. Didnt have trouble finding the place, in a quiet, safe neighborhood of Houston. Booked the Ultimate Massage for 90mins. HIGHLY recommended for anyone. A truely AMAZING experience. Felt like it lasted hours.... My friend also got the same massage and having had previous massages, said this was the best he had also. Massage table was warmed and the room was the perfect temperature. Rude Customer Service 11/10/2008

My husband and I were interested in getting massages for our one year anniversary. Yes, it's my fault for thinking about it after hours on a Saturday night, but I tried calling a few places on Sunday morning. Howard called me back and left a message, telling me there were a few massage therapists on hand that Sunday and to call him back to make an appointment. I called Howard back and he never returned my call. I tried calling again and spoke to a woman. She was very rude!! I told her I wanted to get a massage for my husband and I, hopefully at the same time and her response was -- "That's not going to happen" She told me that Howard would call me back and he never did! Thanks a lot!! We ended up going somewher else with a much more professional staff. more

Excellent Massage!!! 11/3/2008

I've been getting massages on and off for at least 20+ years and have tried a variety of styles, personalities, and places. I stumbled on Village Massage and was very pleased with the results. For the past few massages, I've had Howard work on me and he is definitely a highly skilled massage therapist! He does indeed take a lot of time to ask about physiological problem areas and is quite thorough. The time he takes to ask does not take up your time on the table. You get what you pay for! I've been extremely pleased with Howard's work and highly recommend him to anyone wanting a professional and not cookie cutter massage, as some larger venues are offering... Massage Magic 10/28/2008

I've had a lot of massages in my life, and this was absolutely the best. If you've had massage where more time was spent tucking and untucking the sheet/blanket over you than you had hands on massage, this is the place to change your experience. Howard will heal your stressed out muscles and joints...or at least make them feel like new. His rates are extremely good and I would highly recommend adding the extras he offers. Things like hot towels, hot towels, and aroma therapy. He is extremely flexible and his highest priority is your happiness. I plan to go back many times, and take my significant other with me. Best Pre-natal Massage EVER! 10/22/2008

I was searching for a Houston massage therapist who could do pre-natal massage and found Village Massage's website. I was hesitant to try a new place, but booked a massage anyway. That was a GREAT decision on my part! Howard is an absolute god send. His knowledge about massage and alternative medicine is astounding. He is truly a healer, which is essential for a massage therapist in my book. I have been going to Howard for six months now and I look forward to working with him throughout my pregnancy and beyond. After sorting through tons of reviews of different Massage places/Spas in Houston. I found Village Massage. Every review was 4 to 5 stars. I booked a couples massage for me and my fiance. It was and amazing experience. Howard and Jennifer we very professional and took wonderful care of us. We signed up for the couples massage and oh my god it was the best, they make u feel really comfortable and they talk to u while u get massaged to let u know what there going to do or if its to rough. Air->Water->Food->Howard 6/18/2008

Air is something we need every second of every day to live. Water and food are also essential elements for life. However, there is one more thing needed and that is relaxing therapeutic massage treatments. I found this at Village Massage. For every question that I have asked, Howard has always had an informative answer and has pointed out other references for a complete explanation. I have been going to Village Massage for years and have always walked out feeling better than I did before I walked into the spa. Whenever a friend has asked for a recommendation on where to go for a massage, I ALWAYS recommend a visit to Village Massage and specifically ask for Howard. One of the Best 5/16/2008

Made an appointment with Jennifer for a sports therapy massage to help with recovery after a marathon. She was amazing. Very attentive, talented, and a great conversationalist. She even showed me some great stretches and yoga positions for runners that I hadn't even thought to try. Everyone was extremely professional, and didn't seem to rush even though it was late Friday evening. The atmosphere is calm and serene. I would highly recommend this place to runners who are looking for a therapeutic, customer-centric experience rather than a day spa extravagance. Village Massage is a Must! 5/5/2008

I went to see Howard as a last resort. I'm five months pregnant and have had daily, incapacitating migraine headaches that have stumped the four medical specialists I've seen. I was so desperate for relief that I was willing to try anything. Amazingly, there are very few places in town that are familiar with pregnancy massage, and Village Massage is one of them. From my first phone call with Howard, he was wonderful, listening to my concerns and developing a treatment plan. He made time for me on a Sunday, and when I arrived, spent a great deal of time going over my symptoms. I have had many massages in the past at hotels and day spas around the country, and I assumed that any time spent talking with Howard was going to be time I wasn't going to be massaged. I was wrong! Unlike most massage places, I got (more than!) the full 90 minutes I had scheduled. And the massage was great, start to finish. Howard spent lots of time working on the areas we thought could be causing my migraines. He also gave me helpful suggestions for other alternative therapies. He is extremely knowledgeable. We had discussed my expectations, and I had told him that I wasn't looking for a cure for the migraines, only relief. Honestly, I wasn't too sure it would work at all, since nothing before had. Imagine my surprise, when, for the first time in more than six weeks, I woke up the next day WITHOUT A MIGRAINE!!! Even if the relief only lasts for a short while, at least I now know that SOMEONE in this city can help me. Now I don't have to stress about the invasive treatments the doctors had recommended that could harm my pregnancy. Howard is absolutely wonderful. He's made a believer out of me, and I will DEFINITELY return and I will DEFINITELY recommend him to anyone and everyone. 10 out of 10, Howard!!! more

ultimate high!!!!! 4/26/2008

I started going to howard about a year ago. He gives the best massage ever!!! He challenged me to go to another spa and recieve a massage and let him know my results so I accepted. I will NEVER go anywhere alse again! I suffer from excema and Howard totally accomadated my needs. He had organic oils that would not harm my skin and washed the sheets with non fraganced detergent. I received a swedish massage from a place called Massage Envy on westheimer and it SUCKED!!!! The therapist said they only had one kind of lotion that they use on every one and there was nothing special they had for people with skin irratations. The massage therapist didn't even massage my legs. He only worked on my back and showed little interest to my feet and arms. If you truley want a good massage this is the place. It's quiet, cozy and doesn't have all the commotion of the highly commercialized massage places. Pros: service Cons: parking more

I have been going to Howard for a few years now - he saves me after marathons, long bike rides and stressful weeks at work. Village Massage is inviting, cozy and I always feel incredibly comfortable. Great for customized and creative massage 3/15/2008

Howard is a skilled therapist. He likes to try new styles and techiques to adapt to client needs. He is careful to make sure each person is comfortable. I came in pretty stressed out, with my shoulders up around my ears. I floated out of the building. The business itself is well tailored to folks who are looking for a great massage without all the frills of a spa. I will be sure to come back. EXCELLENT! 3/15/2008

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday to get a couples massage. First of all the setting is so cozy and peaceful. It was very intimate. And the massage was THE BEST. After it was done we just sat there and looked at each other like...wow! We didn't want to leave. It was very romantic, we got to play our own music which was so personal and added a nice touch. Howard was such a nice guy! 200% on customer service! Even when I was running an hour late in crazy Houston traffic on a Friday he waited and did an amazing job. Great Experience 2/19/2008

My wife and I recently had a couples massage at Village Massage. It had been years since I had any type of massage and I was looking forward to it. My wife, conversely, was a a slight bit nervous about receiving a massage from a man. The day I called to make the appointment was a very stressful and I knew I made a good choice when Howard answered the call. His voice soothed away most of the stress of the day. When we arrived, I could feel my stress level immediately decrease the second we walked in the door. Soft music was playing and the room had a soothing aroma and aura. Howard was great at relaxing my wife a bit during the initial consultation and even more after our massage session began. Kristen was great at relaxing muscles I had no idea were tight and worked out stiffness in my shoulder that I had been living with for months. We highly recommend Village Massage for any type of message therapy you need and we look forward to our next visit.
