Uptown Nails

I still cannot believe that such an inexpensive place like this can be found in downtown Portland. I was nicely surprised by the friendliness and great quality of service. The hand massage was the best I have ever had in a nail place! While other places just gently lotion your hands, Lee gave me a proper massage that just melted my stress away. I broke the white tip off of one my nail, and I called up this shop because it was near my workplace, instead of going to my regular nail salon. The woman who ""fixed"" my nail did such a poor job, halfway through I started crying. I could already tell how awful my nail was going to look compared to my others. In the end, the gel/powder part is much too thick (doesn't match my other nails AT ALL), near the side of my nail it is has bit a dent looking thing (she didn't file it down properly to make the nail look smooth) and to top it all off, the white tip she put on is a bit crooked, and a bit too far down the nail, so the end of my nail looks all droopy (if that description even makes sense..sorry!) Anyway, she did a terrible job, but at least she made me really appreciate the artists (and I really do mean artists!) at my regular nail salon. My other nails are beautiful and I get constant compliments on them. I'll be heading back to my regular salon to have them remove the nail the lady put on at Uptown Nails, believe you me. Anna is a genius. I have tender old feet. She made them feel like a baby's. She is gentle and thorough, doesn't hack away with the nippers like so many do. I will always go to Uptown Nails. I never felt so pampered in my life. more

I am not from the Portland area but I wanted to get my nails done before my 21st birthday. I didn't have much money so I decided to go to a beauty school...bad idea. After 3 hours and only one hand completed, I had the technician take the nails off because they started turning yellow immediately. I was flipping out because I couldn't find an affordable place to go in Portland but I was on a time crunch. I called uptown later that night close to midnight expecting an answering machine to see what their hours were. A nice gentleman answered the phone and scheduled me for the next day! When I went in, he was so nice and very fast! He even gave me a discount for my birthday! I highly recommend Uptown Nails, they have very reasonable prices and great service!! more

I have tried acrylic nails a few times. Only to be disappointed by the service, waiting time and quality of nails. I decided to give them another try. This is the best place I've been to! The staff is wonderful, never pushy and doesn't make you feel weird or stupid if you don't exactly know what you're doing. The quality of nail is durable, and looks great for over a week. I highly recommend stopping by and chatting with these darling ladies! Pros: Excellent quality and service Cons: the parking downtown is always a drawback more
